Project Migration: Fashion For A Noble Cause

This really cool fashion line was founded by Hilary Rowland. For each Project Migration shirt or bag sold, one or more struggling single mothers in East Africa will receive FIVE YEARS of clean water along with life-saving medical supplies for her and her children. Imagine that!

Donation will benefit homeless teen mothers, many of whom are girls who bore children at a very young age due to rape. (The culture in most countries in East Africa is such that once a young woman is married or has given birth, she is not allowed to return to her parents’ home, regardless of divorce, death or abandonment by her husband or boyfriend.)

The great shirt designs have the number of years donated printed across the butt. In addition, they host “Migration Vacations” which allow supporters to have a special opportunity to personally hand-deliver medical supplies, and they bring volunteer doctors who will help single mothers who are pregnant, giving birth or sick.

No wonder they’ve got huge public supporters from celebs like Sting, Adrian Grenier, and Paris Hilton.

Sex Traffickers Lure Models On Craigslist

Craigslist is the top-most site for local classifieds and forums. Because of its popularity and because it is community-generated and largely free, sex traffickers often use the site to sell child and adult for commercial sex.

The anonymity of the Internet remains an efficient tool of perverted Craigslist users to lure models to the sex trafficking industry through false promises of well-paid jobs.

Some independent girls in college who need to earn money to continue paying for their education may be easily enticed by such ads as “Make great money from home as a webcam model! Receive great benefits to help get you started!”

The site also used to have an “Adult Services Section,” which supposedly only facilitate services for adult works. However, the section has been widely used to facilitate illegal prostitution and the sale of children for sex all over the word. As of September 3, 2010, Craigslist has terminated the section.

Now that there is no longer a section that facilitates ads for adult works, some people have doubts whether Craigslist is criminally liable for sex trafficking. Believers of technology, for one, see Craigslist as an effective tool for law enforcement especially when the company would diverge with human-rights advocates in approach to sex trafficking (e.g. posting photos of sex traffickers for women, children, and the whole community to see).

Craigslist is just one of the most common Internet technologies used by sexual traffickers, as discussed by Amanda Kloer in her article “The Internet’s Role in Human Trafficking”.

This Airport Underwear May Save Your Day!

Get through the airport screeners with your dignity intact!

Rocky Flats Gear’s Airport Underwear is the newest weird underwear made for a specific purpose. The brand boasts “revolutionary flexible, attractive, lightweight, Lead (Pb) free, radiation shielding garments” for individuals.

Designed with a strategically placed fig leaf containing a powdered metal, it protects people’s privacy when undergoing medical or security screenings. The men’s design has the fig leaf, while the one for women comes in the shape of clasped hands.

But don’t get too excited and think that you can insert illegal paraphernalia beneath this underwear. Its inserts are thin and conform to the body’s contours, making it difficult to hide anything beneath them.

Female Urban Artists Thrive In NYC

Also called “Graffiti” or “Street Art,” Urban Art is mostly cartoon-based public markings that range from simple written words to elaborate wall paintings. Using spray paints or markers, the modern graffiti has also been used as gang signal to mark territory or indicator of gang activities.

New York City is considered to be the home of modern graffiti. But who says urban art is only for men?

The most prominent female graffiti artist is called “PINK” or “LADY PINK” who has managed to penetrate the mainstream culture with her gallery exhibitions of aerosol art being displayed at the Whitney Museum and the Bronx Museum of the Arts. From the 1990s up to the present, graffiti artists like her (now called “writers”)  thrive in the streets of New York, only known through their aliases such as MS. MAGGS; DIVA, HOPE, and DONA of Brooklyn; JAKEE from Queens; and recent-day NYC writers including MUCK, FNS, CLAW, MISS 17, ICON, EROTICA 67 and NAISHA.

Legal or not, it is safe to say that Urban Art is not a thing for conservative urbanettes. Graffiti is mostly done during late hours and in desolate locations, apparently more dangerous to women.

Struggling to gain respect and recognition from the male-dominated lifestyle, female graffiti artists still have to deal with overprotective boyfriends who discouraged them from pursuing their passion or from “her-boyfriend-has-made-the-graffiti-for-her” comments.

Heidi Klum Reveals The Ultmate Secret To Looking Young!

Ah, so because she’s Heidi Klum – one of today’s greatest supermodel who has successfully become a TV-personality from just being a covermodel and an Angel of Victoria’s Secret – she has all the worth to speak of beauty.

In the December issue of SELF magazine, the 37-year-old host of Lifetime’s Project Runway reveals how she maintains fitness and youthfulness.

“The ultimate beauty secret for a woman getting older is, Don’t be too thin! It is always better to have a little meat on your bones. When you are just muscle, you end up being gaunt in the face, and that makes you look older by five or 10 years.”

Exercise, according to the model, also remains an important part of the anti-aging equation.

“One of the best parts about season eight of ‘Project Runway’ being taped in New York City was that I went running every morning. I had a watch that counts the miles and the little thing you put on your shoe that measures each step. Over seven weeks, I ran 120 miles! I don’t love running, but I do like to see everything getting tighter and toned.”

Despite the beauty regimens that she follows to stay young-looking , Heidi Klum maintains that she’s not afraid of old age. In fact, she welcomes aging by getting wrinkles. (Owwws?)

“I don’t have anxiety about it, so I’m not running to get Botox. Maybe that will change, but I don’t think so. I feel comfortable in my skin and comfortable with aging, so I think it’s OK that I get wrinkles.”

Vampire Obsession Bites Young People

The vampire genre, with its darkness and nightmarish aspect, is rapidly becoming America’s guilty pleasure. Some are even taking the vampire fad one step further and exchanging real life “love bites”!

In a surreal world outside their own, people are falling in love with the pale, blood-sucking creatures that resemble ordinary human beings, but with fangs and sex appeal so impossible to resist, and stories so interesting to ignore.

The vampire genre is enchanting because of the sexual mystic that comes from its dark, exciting, and sado-masochistic undertones. Reactions of women in recent vampire movies contrast heavily with the vampire movies in the past; Women are stimulated and experience a sense of pleasure as they are being bitten by their vampire lovers, instead of screaming in horror.

A high school sophomore named Pao Hernandez has admitted to CBS News that couples at her school exchange blood with each other to prove their passion, while friends also give each other bites to demonstrate just how close they are. “It’s a way to belong to somebody and check their territory,” she says.

Today Is A Lesson On Trust

Successful actors, models, and celebrities usually talk about hardwork and perseverance.

But today is a lesson on trust.

Here are some of our favorite celebrities talking about trust and reminding us that we need not to kill ourselves to work in order to become successful. Sometimes, just letting life take its course will also help us find our place in the sun:

“Trust that everything happens for a reason, even when we’re not wise enough to see it.”
~ Oprah Winfrey

“You cannot do everything at once, so find people you trust to help you. And don’t be afraid to say no.”
~ Jane Seymour

“Whatever happens in life is fine – just trust in that.”
~ Orlando Bloom

“I trust pictures, but no pictures made in my world – because I know what goes on.”
~ Naomi Campbell

“People who trust me will not be swayed by what’s been said about me, and for people who don’t, no amount of good reports will persuade them.”
~ Zhang Ziyi

“I have only one rule in acting – trust the director and give him heart and soul.”
~ Ava Gardner

“One of the things that I truly have had to learn, sometimes the hard way, but that I’d like to share with you is to trust  your own instincts no matter what people might say about you, no matter what criticism or what negativity might come your way for just being who you are, and just being yourself, it’s so important. Tonight is your night.”
~ Christina Aguilera

Molly Sims Reveals $300 Salary From Sports Illustrated

Covergirls don’t make as much money as you think they do. But a smart move to be on the cover of a magazine can take you to supermodel status.

This is what Molly Sims has tried to tell model-wannabees when she graced the HDNet show “Naughty But Nice With Rob”. According to her, she and other top swimsuit models like Heidi Klum were not really earning much when they landed the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.

“Everyone makes about $300 for a week’s work. Basically you are paying them to be on the cover,” the “Las Vegas” star tells host Rob Shuter.

Just $300 for a top model’s week work on one of most popular magazines? That’s basically not enough.

But consider this: A $300 paycheck is nothing compared to the huge exposure that the magazine can offer. Call it an exhibition of female sexuality, call it a dehumanizing promotion of women as product for male consumption. But simply getting on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue can change a girl’s career overnight!

Here’s a Molly Sims’ inspired model’s advice: Learn when to prioritize exposure over compensation. But of course, remember not to get taken advantage of!
