St. Mark’s Square Bans Nude Julianne Moore Ad
The famous St. Mark’s Square in Venice is not a place for naked women. Even a high-fashion campaign like that of Julianne Moore’s Bulgari ad is unwelcome.
Venice elected mayor Giorgio Orsoni has blocked its use on the city’s historical landmark. Deemed inappropriate, the billboard shows the Hollywood actress lying naked on a divan and accessorized/covered by a Bulgari handbag and two cuddly lion cubs.
“An advertisement showing a nude woman on a divan is not appropriate for St. Mark’s Square,” the mayor has told Italian newspapers.
If not banned, the naked Julianne Moore ad campaign would have been displayed on Doge’s Palace. As its replacement, Bulgari has chosen a different photo of the actress, fully-clothed and wearing the label’s jewellery.
