Sue Swank Relates More To Models As A Female Photographer

These days, reports of top photographers sexually assaulting young female models have become so common that models start to get wary of working with male photographers. Although it is dumb to say that the risk of getting raped or harassed is higher when working with male photographers, not a few women have favored female photographers to avoid such troubles.

Aside from the common impression that posing with a female photographer is a lot more comfortable especially for amateur models, another assumed advantage of female photographer-female model collaboration is relatability.

Photographer Sue M. Swank sees her being a woman as an advantage to her profession. She can relate well to her models, who are mostly females:

“Being a woman in the field of professional photography I feel gives me an edge when working with models and clients, because I can relate to the strength, as well as the vulnerability on both sides and strive hard to create a stunning result that has lasting results.”

Sue Swank owns the one-person photography studio Swank Photography that is based in the fabulous Florida Keys. She has been running her studio for 6 years but she’s been a professional photographer for a little over 10 years already.

Sue Swank is agency-represented, but she also maintains a photographer portfolio here at New Faces® in order to better reach out to thousands of models with various expertise — from fashion, portraits, boudior, wildlife, etcetera.

Casting Call For Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” Video

How ’bout some grunge nostalgia? Here’s the casting call poster for Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” music video:

Who would have thought that a group of dirrrrty-looking, highschoolish punks, nerds, and jocks in the background would help make the music video become one of the best and most influential music videos of all time?

Here are lesser known facts about the making of the music video. It was reported that the Extras who came to the shoot and filled the bleachers were forced to stay seated through numerous replays of the song for an entire afternoon of filming. The great Kurt Cobain had this weird idea of allowing the young extras to mosh so that the scene would look like a real riot scene. “Once the kids came out dancing they just said ‘fuck you,’ because they were so tired of this shit throughout the day,” said him.

Ah, nothing makes a great music video than a background of passionate wasted Extras.

Have you experienced becoming an extra for your favorite band? Your favorite actors? Imagine rubbing shoulders with the most popular celebrities like Kurt Cobain! (He’s long dead alright, hence, “imagine”.) Become a movie or TV extras today!

And The 2011 Women’s Top Face Of The Year Is… Panda!

Female Politicians? No, they’re just a bunch of wonder-woman-wannabees. Female CEOs? Boring. Hollywood’s Hottest Actresses? Sexy but senseless. Sportswomen? Nah-uh. Journalists? Not quiet. Fashion experts, perhaps? Hell no!

This year’s most newsworthy female, or so it will become, is a cuddly mamma with two black eyes — panda!

BBC News has recently announced its top twelve faces for 2011 in the men and women’s categories. While 12 of the human males managed to get into the list, only 11 female human beings made the cut. The remaining spot was reserved for Tian Tian, a female panda famous for her nickname Sweetie. And voila! Sweetie The Panda eventually won the title as this year’s top face of women.

And where there is ego-tripping and sexism, controversy follows. Lots of media outlets and women’s groups (apparently) have called on BBC News to replace the panda with a newsworthy human being. However, the company has remained unmoved by the social media outrage, pointing out that a male pig was also on its 2009 male list yet people made no qualms about it.

Women’s history of discrimination and struggle for human rights, ring a bell? HELLO?!

“Whilst we all love a good panda story, in a year when Christine Lagarde became head of the IMF, or Helle Thorning-Schmidt became prime minister of Denmark or even the sad death of Amy Winehouse, it’s frustrating the BBC couldn’t think of 12 human female faces who have made the news this year,” says Labor Member of Parliament Stella Creasy who also believes that BBC had a long way to go when it comes to representing women.

Nikh Fellouris Is One F!erce Model

Standing tall at 5′9″, Nikh Fellouris is not your typical pale and lanky model. Her Mediterranean look is due to her Northern Chinese and Greek ethnicity, while her muscular and slim physique is carved by her trainings in dance and martial arts.

At 33, Nikh Fellouris is already a veteran in the world of fashion, commercial, and artistic modeling. She has been a runway model for Macy’s and various other boutiques throughout Southern California and New York. She’s also a frequently used subject piece for photographer Michael Harrington, while her pose for Peter Alexander has been on display at the Museum for Contemporary Arts in Los Angeles.

A striking and gorgeous brunette, Nikh Fellouris presents herself as a very kind and humorous person.

But hold it, jerks. This beautiful lady is unfortunately not the kind of girl to mess with. Aside from being serious and competitive around her working environment, Nikh Fellouris also holds a second degree black belt in Kempo Karate-Do; with training in Wing Chun; Tai Chi and traditional Japanese, Filipino, and Chinese weapons.

Mom Who Accompanies Her Child To Audition Gets The Job

When taking your child/ren to casting calls, it’s best for you to also come prepared and look presentable. Who knows? You could share the same fate with Linda Jameson…

Just when Linda Jameson thought her industry days were over, she was offered by CBS to appear in the recent episode of Hawaii Five-0. She did not even come to the casting call to present herself as an actor. She was only accompanying her daughter to audition.

Her daughter did not get the part, but Linda Jameson surprisingly got a spot for the TV series. The Casting Director whom her daughter auditioned for has taken a photo of hers and submitted it to CBS for the part. She would play as one of the parents anxiously making updates about their children who were kidnapped and kept inside a bus.

Linda Jameson was a former model and news anchor at KHON, appearing as reporter on Baywatch Hawaii. She left the news and entertainment industry in 2000.

“It was kind of flattering after 20 years of being out of the business. It was fun to be on a set again,” said Linda Jameson of her acting gig.

Industry Word Of The Day: Green

Green could mean a lot of things. But in modeling, a young girl who’s labeled “green” is someone who is still inexperienced of the ins and outs of the industry — like a typical unripe fruit.

Example:

“What’s probably attractive about those girls is that they’re probably less green than the younger ones, and like I said, I don’t think photographers or the industry has time to nurture those new ones like they did before.”

Elite Agent Louie Chaban, On The Models He Represents

Elite’s top modeling agent Louie Chaban was asked about the type of models he signs. This is what the agent of Karen Elson and Agyness Deyn has to say:

“It’s pretty instinctual, but I think what goes a long way now is the personality in a girl. It’s really important for them to make an impression immediately. To stay in (modeling), you really have to give 300 percent. And what’s happening now is that it’s moving so fast. In the past, you might have this beautiful girl and if she was a bit green, well, I think the industry would take time to nurture her; to create this transformation. Now, a lot of times, if a girl can’t walk or can’t move in front of the camera, it’s on to the next one. Models these days almost have to come ready.”

Get that girls (and boys)? If you want to model and stay long in the industry:

1. Make an impression.

2. Work hard.

3. Always come ready.

Matti Gidilevich, another Elite agent, also believes that hardwork is very important for a model to succeed in the industry. Read his advice:
