Fashion Icons Love These Eight Naked Supermodels

Love magazine puts eight naked supermodels on eight different covers of its third bi-annual edition. The "Fashion Icons" issue shows how different these supermodels' measurements are.

Standing naked on the covers in the same pose (legs wide apart and both arms raised to reveal the armpit), the eight supermodels are chosen because they "represent the ideal of beauty in fashion today."

The eight (8) supermodels who come in various sizes are:

1. Kate Moss
2. Daria Werbowy
3. Jeneil Williams
4. Amber Valletta
5. Natalia Vodianova
6. Naomi Campbell
7. Lara Stone
8. Kristen McMenamy

Love editor Katie Grand explains:

"For this issue of LOVE, we took eight women who are generally acknowledged as the most beautiful in the world, got them to show off their bodies - widely regarded as the most perfect in the world - and photographed them all in exactly the same position for the cover. We did this to show how much they differed physically from one another, which is why we also printed their measurements.

"The point is that 'perfection' is not fixed, timeless or transcendent. It varies, as the measurements of our cover girls show."

These eight ideal beauties may come in different sizes and colors, but note that they do not represent all women (no plus-sized, Hispanic, Asian or Middle Eastern). They all have great legs, they stand tall at a minimum height of 5'6.5", they are essentially flawless and yes, they are the "supermodels."

The eight Love covers are photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot and will go on sale in one week's time - Monday February 8 - priced £5.

Now which of these supermodels will make the highest profit for the magazine? That could hint us the most-sought-after beauty today, from the point of view of readers.

Twilight's Christian Serratos For PETA

Nineteen year-old Twilight star Christian Serratos is the newest celebrity to strip for PETA's naked, err, Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur campaign. To date, she is the youngest vegetarian celebrity to pose nude for PETA in its opposition to the fur industry.

Like a scene from The Twilight Saga, Christian Serratos' naked pictorial takes place in what appears to be a dark, misty forest. There's blood on the ground where she stood and on the base of the tree that she was leaning on.

"I've always been opposed to slaughtering, eating, wearing carcass," says the teen star.

Christian Serratos now joins the likes of Charlize Theron and Eva Mendes in the campaign against using animals for fur. Like them, her ad for PETA is a steamy one. If it's not for the bold texts and the Twilight theme, one would think it's a teaser for an erotic film.

Good thing Twilight has its power over tweens. PETA might soon influence many young people by incorporating Twilight in its campaigns.

Plus-Size Models Go Nude For Glamour Magazine

Glamour did it again. In its November issue, the magazine featured not just one but seven gorgeous plus-size models who posed naked for an au naturel photo shoot, and continued the efforts of pushing the boundaries of accepted beauty norms.

Photographed by Matthias Vriens-McGrath, the seven knock-out beauties who went nude for the glossy fashion magazine were Crystal Renn, Lizzie Miller, Kate Dillon, Ashley Graham, Jennie Runk, Amy Lemons, and Anasa Sims.

As part of Glamour's "body image revolution," the nude photo shoot with the plus-size models include an article by Genevieve Field, which discussed the fashion industry's weght obssession. The article cited that the reason why a woman who measured 6 and above is considered plus-size is because they are really too big for the designers' sample clothes, which usually fall between 0 to 4, only.

Aside from featuring nude plus-size models on the magazine, Glamour magazine has mentioned to feature a greater range of body types in its upcoming pages, "including in fashion and beauty stories (traditionally the toughest areas for even the top 'plus-size' models to crack)."

Nude Photo Of 10 Year-Old Brooke Shields, Withdrawn From Exhibit

So "challenging" was the exhibit of Tate Modern gallery in London because it included the nude photo of 10 year-old Brooke Shields, standing on a bathtub with face full of make-up and an oiled torso. The photo was withdrawn from exhibition amidst concerns on child pornography laws.

As documented by Telegraph UK, officers from the Metropolitan Police attended the gallery and discovered the nude photo of the young Brooke Shields, kept in a room behind closed door with a label on the door that says "challenging." The word served as warning for visitors who would find the image offensive. Aside from stirring controversy, the photo also raised concerns on whether it breaches the Obscene Publications Act.

The nude photo of Brooke Shields in all her seemingly corrupted childhood innocence was a photograph of a photograph. It was pictured by New York artist Richard Prince from the original photograph taken by Gary Gross (yes, Gross) in 1975. It was Brooke Shields' mother who commissioned the photograph in an attempt to turn her daughter from a little girl to a promising child star. After signing away the rights to the image, the naked photo of the little girl later landed on Playboy Press publication. The photographer had also planned to turn the image into a poster.

In 1981, a grown-up Brooke Shields attempted to buy the negatives of the photo back, but failed. The judge who ruled the case said that the actress was a "hapless victim of a contract... to which two grasping adults bound her."

It was the court drama behind the young Brooke Shield's nude photo that caught the interest of Richard Prince. He called his artwork "Spiritual America." It was his commentary on Brook Shields as an "abstract entity."

However, child advocates condemned the inclusion of the photo in the Tate Modern exhibit called "Pop Life: Art In A Material World." In the words of the advocates' founder:

"Brooke Shields was 10 years old when this picture was taken. She could not have given informed consent to it being used. It must be bordering on child pornography. It is certainly not art.

"If you are using a picture of a naked child to bring people to your exhibition, then you are exploiting that child. It's as if they are using a 10-year-old girl for bait. I find it disturbing and they should be ashamed of themselves. And putting the picture in a room with a warning outside really is a magnet for pedophiles."

Despite consultation with lawyers to display the nude photo of 10 year-old Brooke Shields, Tate Modern was forced to temporarily close the exhibit. Staffs of the gallery were in discussion with the Metropolitan Police Officers from the Obscene Publications Unit, ensuring that the gallery management do not inadvertently break the law or cause any offense to their visitors."

Naked Models And Fashion Designers

Some of the world's famous models and fashion designers are naked and they can be yours for the taking!

Fashion designer Henry Holland has a new range of print T-shirts which feature the naked doodles of famous personalities in the fashion industry including supermodel Agness Deyn and fashion designers Karl Lagerfeld and Donatella Versace.

The T-shirts are due to be sold next year at Dover Street Market. And since there is “high price to pay” with naked modeling, especially when the naked models are top fashion designers and supermodels, the t-shirts are priced at £75 each (*winks).
