Victoria's Secret Models Walk At Prada's High-Fashion Runway

Voluptuous lingerie supermodels of Victoria's Secret prove to us that boobs are not just their best assets as they project to make a smooth transition into high-fashion.

Miranda Kerr, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Doutzen Kroes – three gorgeous women who have been excluded from the runways because they are "too big" – walk in the Prada Fall-Winter 2010-2011 ready-to-wear fashion show at the Women's Fashion Week in Milan on Thursday.


Miuccia Prada has one thing in mind when these type of models were cast:

"It's normal clothes – the silhouette of the 90s, but using many different kinds of models who are much more womanly."

So there it goes. Despite the "uber sexiness" of these Victoria's Secret Angels, they still reflect the kind of bodies closer to regular women, that is, with breasts and bottoms.

Following the trend of replacing androgynous and emaciated models with fuller ones, Prada also tries to redefine "sexy" with a mixed collection of clothes that include winter coats, Mad Men style A-line dresses, lady-like skirt suits, and even odd-looking dress with lots of black and white frills around the chest.

"Our vision of what is sexy in women is getting narrower. It is all about bows and frills and clichés now. Women can't seem to give these clichés up. It's just my take on what's happening today. That's all," says the influential designer.

Meanwhile, Doutzen Kroes says she was happy to walk in the show and see "a change in more healthy looking women on the runway." The voluptuous model has previously told reporters that she rarely does runway shows she might have done so when she was "11 or 12" because she doesn't fit the current runway sample size.

Dubbed as the "Hippy Model (with the million-dollar bank account)," rising fashion icon Abbey Lee Kershaw graces Australian television show Today Tonight and talks about the "crazy, fast life" she lives in and the controversies surrounding crazy shoes and being thin.

Now at 22, she is ranked at the top 10 models of the world, hitting the US catwalks and turning heads wherever she goes. The fashion industry loves her cool, fresh-girl image - "so laid-back, so relaxed but at the same time so fashion perfect."

"I don't know if I have a plan B. I'm just waiting for plan A to get bigger," Abbey Lee Kershaw says of her rising modeling career.

"It's crazy. It's a very fast life. I generally spent most of the time on planes, at airports, in studios, at shows - like all over the place. It's very fast. It's always something going on. You'll never really got the time to do your washing a little and... breathe."

But aside from her hippy image, Abbey Lee Kershaw's popularity has also been ironically boosted by catwalk disasters. She has tore a knee ligament when she fell in Rodarte's spring 2009 show because of the super-high heels. She has also fainted at the Alexander McQueen Spring/Summer 2009 Runway from the combination of the tight corset she wore and her high heels.

"Hopefully (the shoes are) going to come back down soon, because health and safety regulations have to come into play at some point," she says laughing.

Speaking of health, Abbey Lee Kershaw replies with an analogy when asked about what she feels of the pressures at the top of the industry for staying thin:

"That's like asking a bodybuilder how they feel about the pressures to be incredibly muscly. An elite performer is always put under some sort of extreme pressure that the rest of society can argue and might not quite understand."

Having her biggest season in barely two years, Abbey Lee Kershaw is seen as one those "really good models" in the industry that clients intend to keep for the long run.

Kylie Bisutti Is Victoria's Secret Angel Model Search Winner

Kylie Bisutti is the lucky winner of the recent Victoria's Secret Model Search. The 19 year-old model from Simi Valley, California has won the contest through the nationwide online voting for the newest Angel of the giant lingerie company.


Kylie Bisutti has emerged from the crowd of 10,000 tall and lovely ladies (18-30 years old & at least 5'8" in bare feet) from all over the United States. The new Angel is a 5'10" beauty who loves adventure and enjoys sports. As proof of her adventurous spirit, she has traveled to Japan at the young age of 16 to pursue modeling.

Kylie Bisutti and runner-up Jamie Lee Darley has walked the runway during the 2009 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Of the competiton, the winning model says:

"Jamie and I became pretty good friends as we lived together. We are also competitors though, so it was a funny combination because we were friends but we always had to compete with each other in tasks. We had a lot of fun shopping and going to the gym together. We made food together and we got along really well."

But just like the other gorgeous VS Angels, Kylie Bisutti is also "taken." She is a newlywed and it is actually her mother-in-law who pushed her to participate in the VS model search. Otherwise, the promising model says she would be at home settling in with her new husband.

As the newest Victoria's Secret Angel, Kylie Bisutti hopes to inspire women around the world to be comfortable in their own colors.

Victoria's Secret's Model Trainer Reveals Secrets Of Angels' Bodies

Victoria's Secret Angels are sure hot and they make NYC's temperature rise during the recent Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2009. But these models don't just hit the runway wearing nothing but lingerie without any preparation. They get ready for the sizzling catwalk show with the most effective fitness backing.


Victoria's Secret's model trainer, Brett Hoebel, is the person responsible for getting the models in "angel" shape. To achieve this, he gets them ready through interval training and cardio.

On Healthy Hollywood, Brett Hoebel reveals his training secrets:

"It's the cross-training that's key. It doesn't let your body adapt to one stimulus too much and it keeps your workouts exciting."

Recovering is also a big part of Brett Hoebel's training mantra.

"Structure your cross-training appropriately by alternating the intensity of your sessions so you work, recover, work, recover.

"Then there's diet. It's fifty percent of the battle."

To win the battle, the trainer advises his clients to stay way from "white devils" - white sugar, white flour, white milk, white salt and white rice.

"And drink at least three liters of water a day to flush things out. Overall it's the lean muscle that gets the calories burning, and burning fat emphasizes muscle definition that might otherwise remain hidden."

To make the fitness program fun and to keep the Victoria's Secret models always guessing for their next training "routine," Brett Hoebel keeps his specializations changing.

Aside from utilizing a holistic approach as a fitness coach, Brett Hoebel is also a Nutrition and Lifestyle coach, Holistic Exercise Kinesiologist, and Hatha Yoga instructor.

Peek At The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show will not air on television until December 1, but with the frenzy the annual show brings (especially from watching sexy models walking down the runway in lingerie), it is impossible to keep details away from the public until its airing on CBS next week.


Highlights of the show includes the big reveal of the Victoria's Secret Model Search finalists who catwalks along with the VS Angels, Heidi Klum who surprisingly walks down the runway instead of hosting the show as reported earlier, Chanel Iman strutting her sexy teen stuff as the newest girl on the block, and the hot number provided by Black Eyed Peas. The band features Fergie who equals the sexiness of the VS Angels with her slim body and super tight muscle toned thighs. Then of course, there's the tantalizing regular VS Angels Alessandra Ambrosio, Marisa Miller, Doutzen Kroes, and Miranda Kerr.

For the spectacle, show stylist Charlotte Stockdale explains:

"We came up with the idea of this girl who lands from outer space in Paris. She gets on a train that comes to a halt in Pinkland, where pink girls get on and off. Then they go into this fairy-tale forest and little lady bugs and butterflies land on them and vines grow up on their clothes. Then, there's Tick-Tock Time; the wings in this section are based on clocks — there's one modeled after a pocket watch with metallic feathers. And she ends up in this regal realm of princess-ness, where the wings have Swarovski jewels and peacock feathers."

Two lucky girls from the VS model search have walked with the Angels during the fashion show, but only one of them will win a contract from the lingerie company. Since there's not much talk about them in the press, Victoria's Secret is probably keeping the details until the airing of the show on CBS next Tuesday.

Victoria’s Secret Model Search: Top Ten Finalists

Victoria's Secret has released the top 10 finalist of its national model search for the next Runway Angel yesterday.


These 10 gorgeous ladies who have been chosen from the nationwide casting calls that started last October 3 will be sent to the so-called "Angel Boot Camp" where they will face series of challenges that include showing off their photogenic and red carpet star qualities, proving their abilities as a spokesmodel, and "radiating charisma while walking a runway in lingerie."


They're all gorgeous. They're all leggy. But only one of them will get her angel wings. Check out the girls (clockwise from top left):

Voting for the Victoria's Secret Angel-wannabee will begin on November 9. And yes, the finale will take us to the aired fashion show on December 1, where one of these lovely ladies will walk down the lingerie along with the rest of the Victoria's Secret Angels.

How New Victoria's Secret Angels Prepare For Lingerie Shows?

Even the sexiest lingerie models of Victoria's Secret have to do workouts and dieting before they strut the catwalk in their underwear. And for the newest addition to the “handpicked” models of the giant lingerie company – Doutzen Kroes, Marissa Miller, and Miranda Kerr – preparation for lingerie shows requires not only body toning but also psych conditioning and moral support.


The 23-year old Dutch model Doutzen Kroes admits that modeling for Victoria's Secret is very important for her: "I love feeling so sexy and I love to be on this runway, but you're nervous because it's lingerie and it's on TV. There are so many people seeing you live, it's not like a picture when there is Photoshop after."

However professional and confident as she is, she admits to still feeling anxiety during upcoming shows: "I get butterflies in my stomach, for sure." So to look her best for lingerie shows, Doutzen says she normally eats what she wants because she exercises often, goes on a strict sugar-and-carb-free meal plan and spends many extra minutes a day jumping rope. "For other fashion shows you can be skinny, but for Victoria's Secret, you need definition," she points out.



For the 30-year old Marisa Miller, preparation for lingerie shows also include "psyching" herself up: "I'm a little shy and unassuming, which might be hard to believe with my job, so I don't have to quite become another person out there but I have to think about letting it all go. My last outfit was a black velvet one-piece with pink feathers on the back. I had to show the camera my tailfeathers so I did give a little spin," she says.

Although Marisa is innately shy, she also feels excited during her lingerie shows. She shares that despite the extensive fittings and rehearsals and the elaborate set-up (which coincided with $1 billion in renovations to the host site Fontainebleau Miami Beach hotel), part of her couldn't wait to take the first step out and enjoy her "moment." Marisa considers being on Victoria's Secret as the biggest thing in her career and her success was greatly due to her workouts. "When you're on the runway, you're moving so it's all about toning up," she says.

When staring at the reality of a huge audience, Marisa realizes that it is during those moments that she hopes to make it to the end of the runway in one piece. “Some outfits are complicated, and you have to be aware of how they shift or if they are restricting. When you're in your underwear, a lot can happen," she believes.



While Doutzen relies on her body confidence and Marissa on her psyche, the 25-year old Miranda Kerr gets her confidence from her family's moral support. She reveals she is comfortable modeling in the catwalk during lingerie shows when her family is in the crowd, her mom and dad winking at her. "My mom didn't mind seeing me up there in my underwear. I am 25 and it's all very lovely and like a costume. It's beautiful and romantic ... it's not like standing up there in my everyday underwear. It's a theatrical show and everyone is there to have a good time."



Truly, how these new Victoria's Secret Angels prepare for lingerie shows are just like ordinary people preparing for important events in life. Like us, these lovely lingerie models get tensed, develop utmost desire to be their best on the big day, and become excited and emotional. The only difference is that they are hardworking and strict when it comes to following a dietary and/or exercise routine – an effort that many of us just find it hard to follow.
