Jennifer Hawkins, Naked And Unretouched On Marie Claire

Supermodel Jennifer Hawkins poses naked and unretouched on the cover of Marie Claire Australia. The magazine's February issue supports the campaign against photo retouching and helps promote positive body image.

Wearing nothing but make-up, the 26-year-old Aussie strips for the pictorial and exposes her flaws, including a slightly dimpled thigh and a tiny crease on her waist.

The supermodel's unretouched magazine cover is for the benefit of Butterfly Foundation, an organization that provides support to Australians who are struggling with eating disorders and body-image issues and their careers.

Considering that Jennifer Hawkins is still a supermodel despite her "flaws," critics ask why the foundation did not put forward a more average Australian woman if they are really serious on positive body image awareness campaign.

In defend of the supermodel's unretouched nude cover, Butterfly Foundation's General Manager Julie Parker says that magazines have already tried that tactic in the past but to no avail. She explains:

"The thing is unfortunately it doesn't make the same point, because Jennifer sells magazines and she creates awareness. If Marie Claire had chosen to put on their cover an ordinary women, say myself or a friend of yours, it would not have created the awareness it does."

And while a naked and unretouched Jennifer Hawkins on magazine cover helps attract buyers and eventually bring awareness to the issue of photo retouching, it remains a "one small part of the much wider spectrum of body image, self esteem and eating disorder issues."

Despite that the magazine could not address the skinny-versus-plus size issue in modeling, the foundation is still hopeful to help push magazines into including more natural images.

Jennifer Hawkins, for her part, says:

"I'm not a stick figure - I thought it would be great to tell women to just be themselves and be confident."

The supermodel's nude and unretouched photo cover on the February issue of Marie Claire magazine is on sale from January 6.

Brüno On Marie Claire!

Brüno landed on the magazine cover of Marie Claire UK, with no less than the Victoria's Secret supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio.

Sacha Baron Cohen's Australian fashion reporter alter-ego "Brüno" (who recently made a fuss with his gag on MTV with Eminem) appeared on the July '09 cover of British Marie Claire.

"Fashion is ze most important und lifesaving of all ze sciences," Brüno told Marie Claire as he "gate-crashed" its exclusive photo shoot.

Brüno described his style as the "A–Z List of Fashion":

"H is for 'High-vaisted Jeans.' In terms of human tragedy on a mass scale, vy are zese not getting the attention zat Hurricane Katrina did? ...S is for 'September 11th, 2001.' Famous, of course, for being ze day on vich Oscar de la Renta reintroduced ze chambray peasant blouse..."

Aside from flashing his sense(less) of fashion, Brüno also made brutal comments on some of the most prominent people in the fashion industry.

On Naomi Campbell:
"She's amazing--20 years in ze business und all the pressure und fame hasn't changed her a bit. She's remained a total b****."

On Madonna:
"Little black child... thanks to Madonna... it's zis season's vardrobe essential."

On Pink:
"Just vatching him now on MTV. A great singer und so hunky."

On Amy Winehouse:
"...not too skinny, in fact, for ein junkie she is actually zehr fat."

On Anna Wintour:
"pre-op trannie"

Some find Brüno's gags funny while others find them insulting (especially of course by those whom he mocked on the magazine interview).

But there are also people who believe that Marie Claire is genius enough to feature Brüno as a fashion critic. After all, the fashion industry is way too serious that "maybe Brüno will be the catalyst that causes the industry to step back and laugh at itself."
