Heathy Curves Back On The Runway

The decrease of "beanpoles" on the latest runway shows was noticeable. New York and London Fashion Weeks have featured more normal-sized women catwalking this year.

Though IMG vice-president Fern Mallis did not attend the CFDA's panel discussion on fashion industry and body image the day before New York Fashion Week, she was glad to notice healthier models on the runway.

"I was here at the Tents, but I haven't seen so many scary-looking girls this time," she commented during the Naeem Khan show.

"I was just at a show sitting with the husband of a designer who said a girl came in for a fitting and her legs looked like poles, and they said, 'No.' It was great at Calvin's show to see some of the old girls back, like Stella Tennant and Kristen McMenamy, and Michael Kors had Frankie Rayder. They're gorgeous girls. They weren't beanpoles, they're still gorgeous."

The same trend was also noticeable at the London Fashion Week. Even Kate Moss walked the Fashion for Relief runway with more body fats. Supermodel Naomi Campbell also welcomed the arrival of many normal-sized women on the catwalks, as well as the plus-size models. She was quoted as saying:

"I think the bigger the better. I don't comment on size, I think if someone is beautiful then they should do what they want to do."

Fashion designer Borun Aksu also noted after his show that larger, healthier models appear to have made a breakthrough on the catwalks:

"Over the last couple of seasons they have become more noticeable. You also notice that these are girls who look healthy and happy."

Mark Fast's runway show has featured four plus-size models led by Crystal Renn, size-16 and one of the most famous plus-size models today.

Meanwhile, giant high street retail store Debenhams has started replacing some of its size ten mannequins with plus size models more suited to the average British woman's size 14-16.

"The average British woman is a size 14 to 16 and it's important that the woman on the street is able to walk into a shop and feel comfortable with the choice available," said Sarah Travers who runs Europe's largest plus-size modeling agency.

Kate Moss Is Teens' Role Model

Despite being accused of influencing teenagers to become skinny, despite the cocaine addiction that she has struggled years before, and despite the drama surrounding her love life

Kate Moss is the top role model for teens, especially for those who want to be famous!

In a poll conducted by website Intotheblue.co.uk earlier this month, 68% of the 1,032 16-year-olds have chosen the British supermodel as their role model. The same survey has also showed that more than half of the teenagers do not want a career they just want to be famous.

Asked "What would you like to do for your career?", 54 percent of the teenagers have answered "Become a celebrity."

Kate Moss obviously tops the survey because of her fame. She has become brand name in the fashion industry today. Not only does she maintains a prestigious modeling career even in her mid-30s, her resume has also expanded by launching a highly successful clothing line with U.K. retailer Topshop, marketing a range of perfumes, getting deals to design collection of handbags and fashion accessories for luxury design houses, a fashion stylist, and an occasional singer, writer, and actress.

Who would have thought that this woman will rise up to become the celebrated "Kate Moss"? She has not even dream of being a model in her younger years. She still can't quite believe it, even now. She still thinks she's blagging it a bit, but nobody's cottoned on yet.

"I'm still having a wonderful time modeling. In career terms, things have never been better," the supermodel admits in her latest interview with Britain's Grazia magazine.

Recalling how she decided to give modeling a try, Kate Moss shares:

"I was only 14, so I hadn't got around to thinking about what I wanted to do. I had this lovely geography teacher, and I asked her whether she thought I should give modeling a try, and she said, 'Kate, just give it a go. If it doesn't work out, you can always go to college.'"

But contrary to the teenagers who look up to Kate Moss because of her fame, the supermodel does not like popularity. She values modeling as a career, not as a mere tool to become famous.

"Modeling has given me insights and experience that I can now use in other ways. Sometimes, I don't like (the fame), but then I've got to deal with it, so I do. You know, I just wanted to be good at my job, I never wanted to be famous, but that happens to come with it."

Fashion Icons Love These Eight Naked Supermodels

Love magazine puts eight naked supermodels on eight different covers of its third bi-annual edition. The "Fashion Icons" issue shows how different these supermodels' measurements are.

Standing naked on the covers in the same pose (legs wide apart and both arms raised to reveal the armpit), the eight supermodels are chosen because they "represent the ideal of beauty in fashion today."

The eight (8) supermodels who come in various sizes are:

1. Kate Moss
2. Daria Werbowy
3. Jeneil Williams
4. Amber Valletta
5. Natalia Vodianova
6. Naomi Campbell
7. Lara Stone
8. Kristen McMenamy

Love editor Katie Grand explains:

"For this issue of LOVE, we took eight women who are generally acknowledged as the most beautiful in the world, got them to show off their bodies - widely regarded as the most perfect in the world - and photographed them all in exactly the same position for the cover. We did this to show how much they differed physically from one another, which is why we also printed their measurements.

"The point is that 'perfection' is not fixed, timeless or transcendent. It varies, as the measurements of our cover girls show."

These eight ideal beauties may come in different sizes and colors, but note that they do not represent all women (no plus-sized, Hispanic, Asian or Middle Eastern). They all have great legs, they stand tall at a minimum height of 5'6.5", they are essentially flawless and yes, they are the "supermodels."

The eight Love covers are photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot and will go on sale in one week's time - Monday February 8 - priced £5.

Now which of these supermodels will make the highest profit for the magazine? That could hint us the most-sought-after beauty today, from the point of view of readers.

"Nothing Tastes As Good As Skinny Feels" - Kate Moss

Kate Moss rarely gives an interview. So when she takes time to chat with WWD, the fashion world has to listen to what she has to say.

It turns out that the supermodel is out to promote her latest scent for the holiday season, Vintage by Kate Moss. Coincidentally, she talks about beauty, creativity, style, and her motto in life.

Here's the excerpt:

How do you define beauty?
"It sounds really corny, but I think that if you're beautiful inside, it shows on the outside for sure. You can be a pretty face, but if you're not a nice person, it just doesn't work. I'm not traditionally a beauty, but apparently people think I'm all right. If you're a nice person, it definitely helps."

How do you channel your creativity?
"I write sometimes, or I'll draw. It all depends what's around. If I'm with my daughter, I'll paint. I make jam. It's kind of creative when you make jam. In the country, I get creative with what I have in my house. I just did my dressing room (with my former personal assistant who now designs interiors) and that was quite a good creative process. It's heaven. We did it together. I wanted it to be a space, not just a closet. I wanted it to be a room you could feel comfortable in and hang out in without just being a wardrobe."

You're a business woman as well as a fixture in front of the camera. What's the secret to effective multitasking?
"I think women are really good at multitasking. Men just cannot do it. My boyfriend cannot talk on the phone and (answer) if I ask him a question or get dressed at the same time. I can do all of that — talk on the phone, answer a question, get dressed and put my makeup on all at the same time. Women just do, don't they? I think it's something to do with babies. When you have a child, you have to be able to multitask."

Do you have a motto?
"There are loads. There's 'Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.' That's one of them. You try and remember, but it never works."

Whose style do you admire?
"Loulou de la Falaise, Amanda Harlech and Catherine Deneuve."

High maintenance or low?
"Definitely not (high maintenance)"

GQ Men Of The Year Awards 2009 - With Kate Moss

The GQ Men Of The Year Awards 2009 that took place at the Royal Opera House had been glitzy and controversial.

Aside from "celebrating the cream of the crop from the world of entertainment, politics, literature, film and music," it was also the event when supermodel Kate Moss turned up late, showed some legs, and stormed out of the ceremony cursing "I'm never coming back to these f*cking awards again."

The British supermodel, known for causing troubles here and there, was supposedly at the awards ceremony to present to pal Lily Allen the GQ's Woman of the Year honor.

People who attended the ceremony might have gotten excited for the guest appearance of someone like Kate Moss so that she became the subject of onstage jest from the evening's host, James Nesbitt. The Irish actor made a joke about her appearing naked on the cover of GQ. He also said, "She's still got it. I hope she has, I gave it to her before she came on... my number."

The jibe was not taken lightly by Kate Moss. She marched out of the awards fuming, "He's so f*cking rude! How very dare he? Do you know what, I'm never coming back to these f*cking awards again."

Kate Moss past straight through Dizzee Rascal's interview and later came back to ask "Has anyone seen my lipstick?"

The rapper later told the camera, "Kate Moss has lost her lipstick - f*cking disaster."

OK. So Kate Moss did steal lights and raised hell at the GQ Men of the Year Awards 2009. Still, the awarding ceremony continued and all 22 men, one woman and one television series were deemed worthy winners:

Changes In Fashion Is Key To Modeling Success

Changes in fashion plays a big part in modeling success. In this fickle world, the next supermodel could be you!

Managing Director Damian O'Connor of Models Direct, one of the largest modeling agencies in the UK, says that the way fashions change plays a big part in any modeling career. In this fickle world of fashion, supermodel Gisele Bündchen serves as an inspiration.

O'Connor recalled how super skinny, fragile-looking models took over the catwalk in the 1990s. In that era, waif-like Kate Moss was the ideal beauty of the fashion industry (in the same way that slim and smiling Julia Roberts ruled Hollywood.) Fit and curvy Gisele Bündchen, no matter how photogenic and gorgeous she might have been, would be deemed "too big" and exotic back then - there would be no way for her to attain enormous success.

But the fickle world of fashion changed. At the end of the 90s, the industry shifted towards the more traditional ideal of beauty - symmetrical face, perfect teeth, glossy hair. And then the Hispanic beauty became phenomenal. Brazilian women, in all their natural curves and tan, stole the limelight.

Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen was lucky to start her modeling career during that era. Ever since she appeared on the cover of Vogue in July 1999, she was the new standard of beauty. With more than 20 international brands and more than 500 magazine covers under her name, she has risen to become the most successful model of all time.

O'Connor thus believes that Gisele Bündchen's path to becoming a model should be an inspiration to young people all over the world. Who knows? In the next time that the world of fashion changes, the lucky model to take center stage might be you.

"There's a great lesson for young people who are thinking of becoming a model. You can never really know what's around the corner when it comes to fashion, that's why it's so exciting. So if you really want to pursue a modeling career, just go for it! Whatever you do, don't put yourself off because you think you may not have the right look," advices the managing director.

Supermodel, Superwriter Kate Moss?

After Kate Moss' plan to release a cookbook, the supermodel is now planning to write a novel? Whoa!

Reports had it that Kate Moss is teaming with singer-turned-novelist Louise Wener to write her debut novel - a fiction about a young model's rise to fame.

As revealed on a British newspaper, "Kate has been considering how she will occupy her time when the modelling work dries up.

"Writing a novel is something she has considered before. With the help of a ghost writer like Louise, she is convinced she could come up with a commercially successful product that could be a great money-spinner.

"She knows the modelling world inside out and all the scandal behind the scenes."

Aside from a cookbook and a novel, the supermodel is also set to release her autobiography through Virgin Books - perhaps detailing her troubles with drugs and romance and her dramatic rise to modeling stardom. "It's going to make an exciting read," anticipates billionaire Richard Branson, who owns a 10 per cent stake in the company.

With a lot of future writings to make, Kate Moss will surely be a busy writer when her catwalk career is up. But with people like Davinia Taylor to help her with the cookbook and Louise Wener to help her with the novel, it's not gonna be that hard. She would still have plenty of time to do acting projects (as also planned) and become Kate Moss, the Hollywood star.

Kate Moss Is Freaky On Magazine Cover?

Beauty is skin deep. Peel through the skin of supermodel Kate Moss and all you see is a freaky flesh that's just the same with everyone of us.

Kate Moss' unusual image is for the cover of the spring/summer issue of TAR magazine. Designed by artist Damien Hirst, the New York art magazine shows the muscles in one half of the supermodel's face.

Did Kate Moss really reveal the slightly gory side of her?

Actually, the supermodel's image was taken from W Magazine cover photographed by Mert and Marcus in March 2005. And Damien Hirst just used (brilliantly, at that) the famous fashion model's face to create his entry for the transparency-themed issue of the indie arts biannual magazine.

So what do you think of Kate Moss' look, freaky or artsy?

Kate Moss Cookbook?

Yesterday, Kate Moss gained a few pounds. Today, Kate Moss is eyeing for the release of her own cookbook.

The waif supermodel who started the skinny model trend is inspiring not just thin fashion models but everyone around the world to eat!

The 35-year old model was reportedly encouraged to cook by Stasha Palos, the step-daughter of Sir Philip Greene who has a cookbook of easy-to-do traditional Jewish meals due for release this year. After trying out some of the recipes for her rocker boyfriend Jamie Hince, Kate Moss becomes inspired to release her own recipe book.

Now, Kate Moss is trying her knives on potato latkes, chicken noodle soup, salt beef, and non-dairy pareve carrot and honey cakes.

"She is buzzing about the idea of being the first supermodel to release a cookbook,” says an insider about the supermodel’s plan.

Good thing the skinny Kate Moss who used to be a great influence of anorexia is now cooking a healthy inspiration. Hopefully, she makes a yum-yum serving out of it!

Heidi Klum And Kate Moss Respond To Weight-Gain Issues

Two of our hottest supermodels are on the hot seat these days for gaining weight. Heidi Klum is making wide news coverage for the “too-fat-for-a-runway-model” comment. Kate Moss, on the other hand, is paparazzi-favorite for pregnancy rumors. But how do these supermodels respond to the issues?

Fashion Designer Wolfgang Joop recently labeled Heidi Klum “too fat” when he said, “She is no runway model! Heidi Klum is simply too heavy and has too big a bust. And she always grins so stupidly. That is not avant-garde – that is commercial!”

A day later, Heidi Klum, in all her supermodel poise (5'9.5'' and 130 pounds) replied “It’s a life where everyone can say what they want to say and everyone can have their opinion — that is his. In this business you have to be fit, but I always try to be a good role model and not too thin.”

Meanwhile, to put an end to pregnancy rumors, Kate Moss officially announced through New York Magazine that she just put on some weight.

"I am a woman now. It's true. Honestly, I've never worn a bra in my life. Ever! It's so awful, even my friends are phoning me up and saying, 'Are you pregnant?' And I'm like, 'No! I just put on a couple of pounds and they went in the right place.' Isn't that weird? Now I can fill a B-cup," she said.

Now that's classy responses to dowdy rumors. But really, Kate Moss should not blame her breast because it's actually her bloated belly that started the issue.

Know why people are seemingly obsessed with thin?

Kate Moss And Her Short Legs

Even supermodels have their own share of insecurities. For the 34-year old Kate Moss, it's obviously that trait of her that has, in fact, made her more popular – her short legs.

Kate Moss is one of the most successful supermodels in the fashion industry, despite being short and slightly bow-legged.

Nevertheless, Kate Moss still wishes she could be taller. “I’d love to have longer legs,” she confides in a recent magazine interview.

Of course, nobody could blame Kate Moss. It is true that for a fashion model, a 5-feet-seven- inches height is still short.

But the supermodel knows how to make the most of what she have. Her uncommon modeling height, accompanied with the signature waifish look and daring advertising campaigns, has helped her to become one the most popular standard of beauty today.

How did she ramp her way to success in her short legs?

The secret is leggings.

“...I own lots of leggings because they make my legs look longer,” reveals the supermodel.

Indeed, Kate Moss and her short legs make the most out of the magic of dresses like leggings.

However, Kate Moss claims she's no fashion-obsessed: “People would be surprised if they knew how little time I spend obsessing about what I’m going to wear.”

So if it's actually not the clothes , what exactly is that vital element for the success of the supermodel Kate Moss (and her short legs)?

The answer is simple – her attitude.

Life-Size Gold Sculpture Of Ideal Beauty: Kate Moss

How would you feel if you were immortalized in a life-size gold sculpture – the largest statue made of gold since the time of Ancient Egypt, weighing 50 kilograms with a monetary value of $2.75 million USD or £1.5 million, and displayed in national museum alongside the Greek goddesses? Unhappy or ecstatic? It's really hard to tell – unless you're the supermodel Kate Moss.

Kate Moss, the famous supermodel with waifish look and child-like face is the muse of world-renowned artist Marc Quinn's masterpiece, “Siren.” As Siren, Kate Moss has become a solid-gold statue in a Yoga pose. She will be unveiled in the British Museum in October.

As a supermodel, many women looked up to the lovely Kate Moss as an icon, a standard that they want to reach before they consider themselves not just beautiful but phenomenal and precious. Kate Moss is the ideal of beauty that even fashion models find hard to achieved.

Radiant, splendid, and ideal – why is it then that the artist's comment on the life-size gold sculpture is ironical?

“I thought the next thing to do would be to make a sculpture of the person who’s the ideal beauty of the moment. But even Kate Moss doesn’t live up to the image.”

“Never Anorexic, Just Didn't Have Time To Eat!”

"I was never anorexic, I just didn't have time to eat!"

And who else could be the most possible person to say these lines but the famous fashion model who is notorious for her waif look image – surprise, surprise, the Supermodel Kate Moss (once again).

“I didn’t eat for a long time. Not on purpose. (I was constantly) doing shows and flying economy … nobody ever fed me.

“You’d be on shoots with bad food or get on a pl
ane, and the food would be so disgusting you couldn’t eat it. Or I’d be staying in hotels so cheap that by the time I’d get in, there wasn’t any room service.

“You go to a show, and there’s no food at all, so if you’re doing shows back to back, you can forget eating. I remember standing up in the bath one day, and there was a mirror in front of me, and I was so thin! I hated it. I never liked being that skinny.”

The 34-year old supermodel has denied that she was anorexic during the height of her modeling career in the mid-1990s where it was estimated that she just weighed 7 stone. Once criticized for her weight, the supermodel replied “It was just the time. It was a swing from more buxom girls like Cindy Crawford and people were shocked to see what they called a 'waif'. What can you say? How many times can you say 'I'm not anorexic'?”

In her recent magazine interview, Kate Moss again defended her physique as she reasoned out, “I was never anorexic, so I was never that skinny. I was never bony-bony. But I remember thinking, ‘I don’t want to be this skinny.”

Come to think of it. With her perpetual thin-framed, waifish look, how many times will Kate Moss claims she's not anorexic, just didn't have time to eat? And how many times will critics disagree?

Take It From A Supermodel: Breast Implants Are Awful!

Think big future “ahead” belongs only to those women with big boobs? Think again. In the opinion of the highly-successful supermodel Kate Moss, breast implants are awful.

As a model known for her waif-like physique, the lack of big boobs did not hinder the phenomenal Kate Moss from rising to the top of the modeling world. Her tiny tits has, in fact, been very precious assets as she sexily models her body in sometimes topless photo shoots.

Because she has carried her natural breast size with pride and glamour while representing millions of products, magazine covers, and clothing labels, it is not surprising that Kate Moss finds the idea of undergoing breast implants awful.

In one of her magazine interviews, the supermodel bravely shares her opinion and personal experiences with breast implants:

“They are awful. So many of my friends have had them, and they’ve gone wrong. One of my friends’ tits started growling like the giant peach, and blood started coming out the nipple. Then another friend of mine had one that sort of moved up to her shoulder. One tit was normal, and the other was up by her collarbone. I know only one girl who has good ones. And most of them are so hard you can knock on them like a door. I’m not into them. I mean, if I got all saggy, like the sacks some women have after they have children, I’d have them done. I’m not against them, but if you have normal ones, just to have them enlarged for the sake of having big ones… I don’t really like big tits anyway.”

For the supermodel, women's aesthetic appeal does not solely rely on large breast but on how women carry their body and present their femininity to others. The attraction that people have for big-busted women just come and go. Yesterday big boobs meant sexiness, but tomorrow could be different.

Although the supermodel Kate Moss thinks that breast implants are awful, she is not totally against the process. In fact, she admits that when the time comes that her breast becomes totally sag, she would love to have her tits “stand proud” again. The point is that she does not allow anyone except herself to define what's beautiful for her and what's not.

Supermodel Kate Moss Statue In British Museum

After Naomi Campbell, it's Kate Moss's turn to be immortalized. The supermodel will be in a solid gold sculpture to be unveiled in the British Museum's first contemporary sculpture exhibition. The artwork cost £1.5m to make.

The yet-to-be named exhibition is still in the early planning stages, and will feature works from an array of artists inspired by the British Museum's collection of sculpture. The sculpture will be auctioned off to raise funds for charity.

Entitled Siren, the new piece belongs to the same series as his previous sculpture Sphinx, which depicts Moss in an extreme yoga position, first shown in 2006 (as shown above). The artist for the sculpture is world-renowned Mark Quinn.

The British Museum's exhibition for the Kate Moss statue only proves that, truly, if there's timeless models for beauty and elegance, fashion supermodels always top the list.
