Gisele Bündchen Appointed UN Goodwill Ambassador

One of the famous faces today has become the new face of global environmental action.

Brazilian supermodel
Gisele Bündchen has been appointed a Goodwill Ambassador for the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) on September 20 in a ceremony at the Washington Square Park Fountain in New York City.

As UN ambassador for the protection of the environment, Gisele Bündchen will take on the issues of climate change and environmental degradation. The supermodel has also recently advocated for the protection of the Amazon rainforest and has attended a Rainforest Alliance Gala earlier this year.

As an environmental activist, Gisele Bündchen's initiatives include the wearing of her "water dress" in 2007 to pimp her own line of Grendene sandals and promote water conservation (specifically the Xingu river which flows into the Amazon and is suffering from deforestation). Then she launched her own green blog. Later, she wore a "forest outfit" in the latest campaign for Ipanema flip flop line to raise awareness on Atlantic deforestation and to support SOS Mata Atlantica.

Gisele Bündchen is now active in her Forests of the Future project, seeking to recover gallery forest, the vegetation that surrounds rivers and streams participating in the protection of water. The supermodel will also star next spring in the animated AOL webisodes series GiGi & the Green Team where she plays the cartoon hero GiGi who "lives a double life — supermodel by day, superhero protector of the environment by night."

Gisele Bundchen's take on becoming a UN Ambassador:

"The environment has always been my passion. I grew up in a small town and I had the opportunity to live surrounded by nature. I couldn't have asked for a better childhood.

"We must act now, so future generations have the same opportunity. Mother Earth is our fundamental life-support system, and by becoming aware and responsible now, we can assist in preserving the planet.

"I have been working on environmental issues for a long time and agreed to become a Goodwill Ambassador to be part of a global and far-reaching organization. Now it's about action on a global scale to secure a healthy future for the next generation, wherever they live in the world."

Gisele Bündchen has also told reporters she believes Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva should work harder to prevent deforestation. In response, President da Silva has announced a proposal to limit sugarcane production in the Amazon and other ecologically sensitive areas as proof of his commitment to preserve the Amazon.

Now that's one of the many things a supermodel can do — using her sexiness to save the environment and specifically, pressuring government leaders to join her cause!

UN Goodwill Ambassador Gisele Bündchen now works alongside fellow Goodwill Ambassador and French photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand.

Bar Refaeli Replaces Gisele Bündchen, Again

She has replaced Gisele Bündchen as Leonardo DiCaprio's sweetheart and now, Israeli supermodel Bar Refaeli is out to prove her charm against the Brazilian stunner again as the new face of Rampage clothing line.

Bar Refaeli has been dubbed as the young Gisele. As Gisele Bündchen stepped down from the runway as a Victoria's Secret Angel, Bar Refaeli has risen to become one of the hottest Angels of the lingerie line. When Gisele Bündchen called it quits with Leonardo DiCaprio after five years of dating, the Jewish-born model became Leo's girlfriend. And just after news of Bar and Leo splitting up, the supermodel has been launched as the new face of Rampage.

What a coincidence! Some say Bar Refaeli just keeps on trying to outshine Gisele Bündchen. Nah, this isn't impossible for a stunning supermodel who's also one of the top models around today. Why, she's 13th on the COED Magazine's list of The Best Natural Breast of All Time last year (Gisele was on the 3rd spot). She sure got a name (and a body) of her own.

Supermodel Bar Refaeli teams up with photographer Gilles Bensimon for the series of sexy new adverts for Rampage's autumn campaign.

Naked Gisele Bündchen Is Vanity Fair's Lowest-Selling

A supermodel getting naked on a magazine cover does not guarantee big sales. In fact Gisele Bündchen's semi-naked photo for the May issue of Vanity Fair is the lowest-selling issue of the publication in nearly two years.

Vanity Fair confirmed that the May issue sold only 280,000 single-sale copies. Has the naked photo of the world's top-earning model caused Vanity Fair's 23 percent drop in sales?

There are three possible reasons for the underperformance of Gisele Bündchen's covers on newsstands:

1.) People are getting bored of beautiful naked women, whether its Gisele Bündchen or not. Desensitization - it's when once sensational happening becomes irrelevant or unnecessary because of continued exposure. Naked ladies are just sooo typical these days.

2.) Gisele Bündchen is already married when she did the photo shoot and even talked on the magazine about how she sees her husband's son as "100%" her own. Guys become less interested with a married beauty and people just don't like the idea of baby snatching.

3.) Gisele Bündchen's features have become so familiar and ubiquitous that her image becomes uninteresting.

But before blaming the Brazilian supermodel for the magazine's underperformance, some folks also consider the economic recession. And then there are also few who cited not the model but the stories featured on the cover as the culprit for low sales - "the cover boasts stories about Brad Pitt and Barack Obama (really, who wants to read about them?)"

We just hope this is not the end of Gisele Bündchen's "sell-like-pancake" days. Otherwise, this would be a serious case of one supermodel outliving her own fame:

“It might be that she’s losing her looks,” says Vanity Fair spokeswoman Beth Kseniak.

Changes In Fashion Is Key To Modeling Success

Changes in fashion plays a big part in modeling success. In this fickle world, the next supermodel could be you!

Managing Director Damian O'Connor of Models Direct, one of the largest modeling agencies in the UK, says that the way fashions change plays a big part in any modeling career. In this fickle world of fashion, supermodel Gisele Bündchen serves as an inspiration.

O'Connor recalled how super skinny, fragile-looking models took over the catwalk in the 1990s. In that era, waif-like Kate Moss was the ideal beauty of the fashion industry (in the same way that slim and smiling Julia Roberts ruled Hollywood.) Fit and curvy Gisele Bündchen, no matter how photogenic and gorgeous she might have been, would be deemed "too big" and exotic back then - there would be no way for her to attain enormous success.

But the fickle world of fashion changed. At the end of the 90s, the industry shifted towards the more traditional ideal of beauty - symmetrical face, perfect teeth, glossy hair. And then the Hispanic beauty became phenomenal. Brazilian women, in all their natural curves and tan, stole the limelight.

Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen was lucky to start her modeling career during that era. Ever since she appeared on the cover of Vogue in July 1999, she was the new standard of beauty. With more than 20 international brands and more than 500 magazine covers under her name, she has risen to become the most successful model of all time.

O'Connor thus believes that Gisele Bündchen's path to becoming a model should be an inspiration to young people all over the world. Who knows? In the next time that the world of fashion changes, the lucky model to take center stage might be you.

"There's a great lesson for young people who are thinking of becoming a model. You can never really know what's around the corner when it comes to fashion, that's why it's so exciting. So if you really want to pursue a modeling career, just go for it! Whatever you do, don't put yourself off because you think you may not have the right look," advices the managing director.

Photographers Shot At Gisele Bündchen’s Second Wedding!

If you knew what the paparazzis had to go through just to take these shots, you wouldn’t complain why the images are blurred...

As supermodel Gisele Bündchen and sportsman Tom Brady privately celebrated their second wedding in Mal Pais, Costa Rica, two photographers tried to take shots of the private event by hiding in bushes near the beachfront home.

Unluckily, they were discovered by the security guards who ordered them to surrender their still photos and video of the wedding. When the photographers refused to surrender their “treasure” and tried to flee, the security guards pursued them (of course). Running towards a waiting SUV, the photographers were shot. “The bullet shattered the Suzuki's rear window, passed between the two men in the front seat and bounced off the windshield,” says the report. Fortunately, no one was injured.

The photographers were identified as Yuri Cortez and Rolando Aviles, veteran paparazzis hired by INF Daily to capture photographs of Gisele Bündchen’s wedding party. According to these photographers, they had permission from Gisele's neighbor in Santa Teresa to shoot the wedding ceremony from about 300 feet away. They were, however, incautious of being busted or shot.

Yuri Cortez shares "I couldn't believe it when I realized what they had done. I could have lost my life for the sake of some pictures that Gisele didn't want published. Are they insane?"

Rolando Aviles also has his story: "The bullet went between us, missing our heads. If the bullet been a little more to the left or right, it would have killed one of us. I said, 'They're going to kill us,' and that's when I hunched down to cover myself. When the glass broke, that's when my friend started driving really fast. I thought this was going to be my last job."

Thanks to the gunshots fired at Gisele Bündchen’s villa, the supposedly secret festivity has become the talk of the town. This time, it was not the supermodel Gisele Bündchen or the football star Tom Brady who makes news during their second wedding – the limelight was stolen by the typically “unknown” photographers.

Supermodels Gisele Bundchen And Heidi Klum Get Naked!

Supermodels Gisele Bündchen and Heidi Klum bare it all again – getting naked for magazine and photo shoots and show off their curvaceous supermodel physique.

While Gisele Bündchen has always posed semi-nude for lingerie and swimwear pictorials, her latest photo shoot for Vanity Fair did not require bikinis. On the cover of the magazine, the Brazilian beauty poses with silver jewelries as the satin dress falls on her hips.

Meanwhile, German Supermodel Heidi Klum sheds clothes to pose for celebrity photographer Russell James. Showing off her gorgeous body in a series of black and white photographs, the model mom’s naked pictorial will surely sell like hotcake on the coming issue of GQ Magazine Germany.

Gisele Bündchen and Heidi Klum are two of the hottest and most influential supermodels today. Now that they’re both making news for recent naked photo shoots could mean that other top fashion models will soon “follow suit.”

Is this the beginning of the naked supermodels trend?

Gisele Bündchen Finally Weds

It's official folks. "The Body," Supermodel Gisele Bündchen finally ties the knot.

Theworld's highest paid model wed NFL star Tom Brady in a "very small and intimate" Catholic wedding held on dusk of Thursday, February 26, at a church in Sta. Monica. US Weekly confirmed this report and added that the supermodel bride wore a Dolce and Gabbana gown for the special occasion.

The gown was an ivory, lace strapless D&G creation, matched with a D&G floor-length veil and a satin headband. Unfortunately, no photos of Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady's wedding are currently available for the public as only immediate family and close friends were included on the list of invited guests.

Oh well, thanks for the gown description. We can only imagine...

How To Make A Hot Music Video – The Gisele Bündchen Charm

Learn the basics of how to make a hot music video. First, you've got to have an interesting Hollywood buddy – say, Leonardo Di Caprio. Second, make sure that this buddy has a supermodel girlfriend (or an ex-girlfriend who remain friend), like Gisele Bündchen. Third, convince the supermodel to pose for your music video, especially on populated and paparazzi-congested places like Starbucks on Melrose Avenue.

Only these three steps and you can be sure of great of media publicity, at least for the supermodel fuss that your music video is making, if not for the new song or the band.

This was how Gisele Bündchen publicized the music video of the band called Blackcowboy for their song, “Come On.” The supermodel starred on the music video of Jonah Johnson and Richard Woods of Blackcowboy who were said to be best friends of Leonardo Di Caprio, who was Gisele Bundchen's ex.

On one shoot, the Brazilian supermodel was seen sitting on a bench in a white tank top, tight black pants and black boots in West Hollywood. In another shot, she was posing like mannequin in a shop window. And media were fast enough to make news about the whole thing.

What the supermodel did was actually just a cameo role, but it was good enough to make the Blackcowboys' music video hot, way too early before its release.

Kidnap Fright – The Curse Of Gisele Bundchen's $10 Million Family Support

Oh-oh. A kidnap fright is experienced by Gisele Bundchen's family after the recent report of $10 million (GBP5.4 million) being sent to the supermodel's family back in Brazil.

Gisele's twin sister, Patricia Bundchen, dismissed the reports of Gisele Bundchen's regular depositing of millions of dollars to support her parents and five sisters. The Brazilian supermodel's twin sister added that the false report could put her family in danger.

"I have no idea who could have made up a story like that. (It's) very, very dangerous for Gisele's family," says Patricia Bundchen in an interview.

Still drooling for the supermodel's grandiose financial assistance? The kidnap fright might just be the curse of Gisele Bundchen's $10 million family support. Who could have spread the speculation of $10 million annually sent to Gisele Bundchen's family? Not me! (*whew!)

$35 Million For Gisele Bündchen, $10 Million For Her Family

Strut it the 'Gisele Bündchen' way: earn $35 million annually and send $10 million dollars back home.

It's not a surprise that Gisele Bündchen is the breadwinner of her family. Supermodels, with their high incomes, are almost always the financial supporters of their families. What's amazing about Gisele Bündchen is that one-third of her annual earnings is given to her family in Brazil. And because she's the world's highest paid supermodel with an estimated annual income of $35 million, the financial support that the 28-year old supermodel send to her family back home is also estimated to around $10 million a year – just enough to make other families drooling for the supermodel's grandiose support.

Among the family expenses that Gisele Bündchen shoulders include the mortgage of her parent's house, vacation homes in the port city of Porto Alegre for her five sisters including the expenses for their vacations, their expensive jewelries, as well as the bill for her sisters’ college educations.

"She supports her entire family; always has since she was a teenager. She wants her family to have the best", reveals one of the supermodel's friend.

To have a bountiful monthly income and the ability to help one's family are just one of the many things that Gisele Bündchen enjoys as a runway queen and the richest model today. Knowing that she allots around $10 million for her family for every $35 million that she earns every year, it must have been wonderful to have a thoughtful and generous daughter or sister like her (*big grin).

Supermodel Giselle Bündchen Poses In Flip Flops And Influences Reforestation

Supermodel Giselle Bündchen once again showed her support for the environment when she recently posed for the Ipanema flip flop line and influenced reforestation campaigns.

The Brazilian beauty did not just earned her high talent fee from endorsing flip flops but also get the chance to pursue her passion for taking care of the environment.

Last year, Gisele Bündchen designed a line of rubber sandals for Ipanema and posed on ad campaigns while wearing a water dress that aimed to raise awareness for water preservation. Next, she posed for the second collection of the Ipanema line and supported the SOS Mata Atlantica, an organization that watches out the remaining Atlantic Forest in Brazil.

And just recently, Gisele Bündchen used her supermodel influence and made a special request (along with Ipanema brand owner, Grendene) to support the SOS Mata Atlantica in planting 25,500 saplings of 100 different species to recover 15 hectares of Atlantic Forest in the Brazilian regions of Campinas and Bahia.

For supermodel Giselle Bündchen to pose in flip flops and influence reforestation, it is indeed a very smart way to earn her money, as well as her positive public image.
