Susan Sarandon Refuses Botox

Glowing at 63 years old, Susan Sarandon says she cannot understand why actors resort to Botox injections to maintain their wrinkle-free looks. The treatment only makes people unrecognizable, especially for actors.

She refuses to follow the Hollywood trend because she's happy with her image. She believes it's unnatural for women to look decades younger than their real age. And she still feels "sexy" without undergoing the treatment.

"I am sexy. I don't think you should try to look 22 when you are in your 60s. There is something odd about a woman who looks younger than she did 20 years ago. I'm not against anybody doing anything to themselves that makes them feel good, but aesthetically some fillers and stuff make people unrecognizable. I've never had fillers, and how can you get Botox when you're an actor?"

But Susan Sarandon also admits to undergoing cosmetic procedure once. The experience helps her understand the risk and the moral support needed by those who went under the knife.

"I had under my chin sucked out once. I think we have to be supportive of each other, and if someone wants to get implants or tucks you hope that they will be fine and they will keep the essence of who they are and not go over the top."

To maintain her glow, Susan Sarandon follows cost-free alternatives. The secret to good skin, she reveals, is shunning cigarettes away and maintaining a happy personal life.

"Laughing does a lot for the face. Do the things you enjoy. Surround yourself with good people. Denying yourself is not good for the face. You can't be a bitter, angry person. Hatred is unsexy and not great for your skin."

But does Susan Sarandon also know that Botox could become a terrorist tool?

Botox is not a weapon for terrorism (unless people are terrorized by wrinkle-free face). It does, however, contains a minuscule portion of the raw botulinum toxin. It is the key ingredient in the beauty drug but it is also one of world's deadliest poisons. Since a speck of the toxin smaller than a grain of sand can kill a 150-pound adult, terrorists are reported to be researching the toxin in its raw form to be used as a lethal poison.

With the emergence of a global black market for fake Botox, the beauty industry should now make sure that the ingredient is not distributed and used as a weapon for mass destruction.

Cindy Crawford Explains Why Too Much Cosmetic Surgery Is Not Sexy

Cindy Crawford has recently admitted to using botox to fight the aging process, but she also warns women to refrain from relying on too much cosmetic surgery to improve their looks.

Describing the excessive use of cosmetic surgery as "unsexy," the 43 year-old former supermodel says:

"If you're not careful you end up looking perfect but not real. And that's not very sexy."

Cindy Crawford's view on cosmetic surgery has definitely taken some influence from her husband, Rande Gerber, and his close friend George Clooney who could not understand why anyone would go under the knife to alter their appearance:

"I don't think guys like it. My husband hates that stuff, he'd be angry if I did it. He and George (Clooney) talk about it and say, 'Have you ever not gone out with a girl because her lips aren't big enough?' Of course they haven't. They always ask me why women do this stuff to themselves. And I don't know. The doctors who do it lose their eye for it because they're doing so much. But I think it'll change."

Nonetheless, Cindy Crawford understands the pressure of staying gorgeous and "young" for women like her age, especially those who are also in the beauty/fashion industry. With her admittance to using botox to maintain the radiance of her skin, she has also been quoted as saying:

"I'm not going to lie to myself: past a certain age, creams work on the texture of your skin but, in order to restore elasticity, all I can really count on is vitamin injections, Botox and collagen."

She believes that a little nip or tuck is only natural for someone of her stature.

"Because people have such expectations of what they are going to find when they see me, that brings added pressure to fight the aging process. But don't get me wrong. I think I'm holding together pretty good!"

And by "holding together pretty good," the model means not obsessing on cosmetic surgeries and succumb to the pressure of staying young.

"You think about it the older you get, the pressure builds, definitely, especially in my kind of profession. But the women I think look great either don't do it or are very subtle about it."

FYI, Cindy Crawford likes to maintain her gorgeous looks to be called "MILF," an abbreviated slang term (generally vulgar) used to describe a sexy woman who has children. Being a wife to a businessman and a mother to two children aged 10 and 7, she believes that her personality has been effected by the aging process and that people does not find her as attractive as they once did. Nonetheless, she hopes people still thinks she is sexy.

"Age can be daunting, but you can't stop it. I know 20-year-old guys don't look at me anymore. I don't feel it like I used to. I remember walking down streets in New York at the height of my modeling career, my hair up, and all the construction guys would go crazy. It's different now.

"I don't want to be a cougar, I want to be a MILF. I hate that word 'cougar' and what it represents. MILF is a word I absolutely love. I like that tag because I think there is a worry for all models that the moment you have kids the perception of you is going to change."

Rachel Weisz: Botox Should Be Banned For Actors!

Posing for the August issue of Harper's Bazaar UK, 39-year-old English actress Rachel Weisz says that Botox should be off-limits from actors:

"It should be banned for actors, as steroids are for sportsmen. Acting is all about expression; why would you want to iron out a frown?"

She goes on to say that American women are too self absorbed and ridiculously "appearance-obsessed."

"I love the way girls in London dress; it’s so different to the American 'blow-dry and immaculate grooming' thing," she adds.

Ouch. This vanity in American grooming is quiet ridiculous at times, but maybe not as bad as botox, as the actress says. It's something you just get when Hollywood is around the corner.

Rachel Weisz, by the way, is famous for playing the role of Evelyn "Evy" Carnahan-O'Connell in the hit Hollywood flicks The Mummy and The Mummy Returns.

Botox Injections Side Effects and Safety Warning

Botox Safety Being Reviewed After Deaths Reported

The popular anti-wrinkle drug Botox, made by Allergan, and its competitor, Myobloc, manufactured by Solstice Neurosciences, have been linked to deaths and severe side effects suggestive of botulism, the U.S. government FDA warned this week.

Both Botox and Myobloc use botulinum toxin which blocks nerve impulses to muscles, which cause muscles to relax. Because the slackened muscles reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles, Botox has become widely popular not only with those middle-aged and older trying to look younger but also, disturbingly, with younger customers in their 20's and 30's hoping to halt the onset of wrinkles.

The Food and Drug Administration, reported that the toxin may spread beyond the injection site to other parts of the body, resulting in such problems as paralysis of respiratory muscles and difficulty swallowing.

It's not only the FDA in the U.S. that has raised a red flag, Canada's Health Canada agency is already reviewing Botox's safety. Botox is currently approved in Canada to combat wrinkles and for treatment of muscle stiffness.

A Fact Sheet at the FDA website states that Botox side effects may include:

- Droopy eyelids, which can last for a few weeks
- Feeling like you have the flu
- Headache and upset stomach
- Risk of botulism (a life or death illness that makes it hard for a person to move the arms and legs or to breathe)

These latest warnings should serve as a wakeup call to those using Boxtox or contemplating starting Botox injections.
