Angelina Jolie "Overshadowed" St. John

St. John, upscale and luxury American brand for formal wear, has replaced Angelina Jolie with a new model because she "overshadowed the brand."

Angelina Jolie has not appeared in a St. John advertisement for over a year at least. She has been dropped out by the clothing line when her huge contract run out. But St. John still blamed her for "overshadowing" the brand.

In the words of St. John's chief executive officer Glenn McMahon:

"(Jolie) overshadowed the brand. We wanted to make a clean break from actresses and steer away from blondes and cleanse the palette."

To introduce the new look, they hired the redhead supermodel Karen Elson.

"We needed to show a modern point of view of St. John. We have evolved" McMahon said.

Photographed by Greg Kadel in a bare studio for the spring campaign, Karen Elson stunned in pale-white skin and purple-red hair. The ads were directed by executive vice president of design George Sharp and will be launched in the February issues of Vogue, Vanity Fair, and Harper's Bazaar.

"St. John is moving forward," as the company puts it.

According to McMahon, the print media buy for St. John is up slightly and he is in talks about digital outreach, spending on which he predicts will be up 15 percent.

But people who know St. John, as much as they know Angelina Jolie and Karen Elson, believe that the problem is not on using celebrities to represent the brand but on the fact that St. John's target demographic is old, rich women.

So instead of using even amazingly beautiful women like Angelina Jolie or Karen Elson, the brand should put much older celebrities or models like Carmen Dell'Orefice who will look stunning and aristocratic in its ads. On the other hand, if St. John is serious about reaching a younger classy demographic, the sophisticated but not gossip-magnet Daria Werbowy might do the trick.

And if St. John really wants to move forward, the brand should not attach itself to Angelina Jolie when introducing the new look. It has been more than 18 months since the A-list celebrity has appeared for its advertisement. St. John should not make reference to her or Angelina Jolie might once again overshadow the brand, with her name.

Steve Jebson, Commercial Director for Superdrug, says:

''Angelina Jolie is not a conventional beauty but her strong character shines through her fabulous features to give her a unique standing in the beauty world. It's worth noting that while everyone talks about Angelina's pout we find that its her long thick lustrous hair that really makes British women envious, as well as a figure made for red carpet posturing."

Megan Fox On Rolling Stone

In yet another topic of sexiness, Megan Fox poses for the cover of Rolling Stone magazine and admits attitudes/experiences we are so familiar of. A sexy girl cutting herself in her teens and still having low self-esteem despite all the fame that's so Angelina Jolie!

Megan Fox tells on her interview with Rolling Stones when asked if she ever cut herself:

"Yeah. But I don't want to elaborate. I would never call myself a cutter. Girls go through different phases when they're growing up, when they're miserable and do different things, whether it's an eating disorder or they dabble in cutting."

The Jennifer's Body star is also candid when talking about her low self-esteem:

"I'm really insecure about everything. I never think I'm worthy of anything... I have a sick feeling of being mocked all the time. I have a lot of self-loathing."

But the sexy star also adds, "Self-loathing doesn't keep me from being happy. But that doesn't mean I don't struggle. I am very vulnerable. But I can be aggressive, hurtful, domineering and selfish, too. I'm emotionally unpredictable and all over the place. I'm a control freak."

As proof of her unpredictable nature, Megan Fox shares some of her moments with on-again-off-again boyfriend Brian Austin Green:

"I've had to say to Brian, 'You have to go and stop talking to me, because I'm going to kill you. I'm going to stab you with something. Please leave. I'd never own a gun for that reason. I wouldn't shoot to kill. But I would shoot him in the leg, for sure."

But when it comes to eating habits and if ever she had an eating disorder before, Megan Fox refuses to say "yes" or "no":

"If I did talk about it, I'd be taking on a role-model status, and I'd have to choose my words very carefully, and I'd have to make sure I reveal it in a specific way, and I don't want to do it."

Ever since Megan Fox has been set to star in the new franchise of the Lara Croft films, people can't keep comparing her from Angelina Jolie. Though the 23 year-old actress from Tennessee hates the comparison, there are things about her that's undeniably similar to La Jolie. Her looks just keep on getting more like Angelina Jolie with each passing day — and her new revelations in the Rolling Stones magazine add to the list.

For more Megan Fox revelations, grab a copy of the newest Rolling Stone issue. For Angelina Jolie's similar words of cutting and low self-esteem, go to the Hilary Magazine and read on the Angelina Jolie interview.

Why Women Desire Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie is Harper Bazaar's cover model for July. Instead of typically providing an interview with the 34-year old actress, the magazine hires feminist author Naomi Wolf to examine the appeal of the sexiest A-list celebrity in Hollywood today.

Naomi Wolf explains that Angelina Jolie's appeal has "women both identify with her and desire her." This, the feminist believes, is "more than simply a physical response."

For the first time in modern culture, Angelina Jolie "brings together almost every aspect of female empowerment and liberation. The feminist concludes that above all, Angelina Jolie has proved that women can be viewed as a symbol of goodness, and also be seen as sexual.

The feminist sees Angelina Jolie's transformation from a wild child to a woman.

The early career of Angelina Jolie in the industry presented her as an eccentric, goth, and attention-seeking starter. But after her first adoption with son Maddox in 2002 and later becoming a goodwill ambassador for the U.N. High Refugee Agency, the actress "seemed more mature, more beautiful, and more serious," says Wolf. It was during that time that "Jolie revealed a new, and fairly radical, vision of single motherhood..."

In 2005, Angelina Jolie was involved in a scandal when Brad Pitt chose to make a new life with her and broke his marriage with Jennifer Aniston. But with little Maddox in her custody, Angelina "has managed the almost unheard-of task of turning the home-wrecker label into a wholesome, family-friendly triumph," says Wolf. "There was little Maddox, who was growing up and clearly enjoying tossing footballs with his mother's new boyfriend. Jolie had managed to head off the scarlet letter by giving a boy an ideal masculine counterpoint."

Even Angelina Jolie's acquired skill of flying a plane was seen as metaphorical by the feminist. "Flying a private plane is the classic metaphor for choosing your own direction; usually, that is a guy thing to do, yet there was Jolie, with her aviator glasses on, taking flying lessons so she could blow the mind of her four-year-old son."

And while some people make jokes about Angelina Jolie's "rainbow family," this is commendable for the feminist. Naomi Wolf sees it as "a delicious in-your-face countermove against conventions about who we are to one another and what 'family' is expected to look like. She seems, without breaking stride, to care for half a football team of children while the rest of us tread water with our own biological offspring."

These feminist interpretations answer why women desire Angelina Jolie - she is ethereal, a standard of beauty that women (and not only men) admire and wanted to emulate.

But with Angelina Jolie's divinity comes her unpredictable nature. Ask what could be life in the future for this world's most beautiful woman, Naomi Wolf says "No way to tell. But I am certain, given the knack she has shown for tapping into this female collective unconscious, that we will watch with more than ordinary interest."

Angelina Jolie Is Erika Salt

Angelina Jolie will once again star as butt-kicking vixen in Phillip Noyce's spy thriller “Salt.”

Originally titled as "Edwin A. Salt," the film produced by Columbia Pictures was supposedly to be played by Tom Cruise. The 46-year old actor who's already a veteran of many action films had long been expected to lead the film. We never knew what went wrong with the deal but when the role was finally handed to the sultry Angelina Jolie, the story was rewritten and the protagonist became Erika Salt.

While the espionage thriller to the film was redrafted, sources said that the project did not require much overhaul to suit the female lead.

As Erika Salt, Angelina Jolie plays a CIA officer accused of being a Russian sleeper spy. She eludes and gets captured by superiors who are convinced that she is out to assassinate the president. While trying to reunite with her family, she struggles to prove someone else is the traitor.

Here's the good news to aspiring young actors out there:

Expected to go into production in February 2009, the film Salt is currently casting for a child actor to portray the role of the young Erika Salt. Check the casting to view the detail. Who knows, you might become the next action goddess like Angelina Jolie!

Hmmm, 'wonder how much did W magazine paid to earn the rights to that personal photo?
