"Friends" On The Big Screen

Following the success of Sex and the City on the big screen, another hit TV sitcom from the 90s will make it to box office.

Friends: The Movie will reunite six lead stars we have come to love since 1994: Jennifer Aniston as the fashion forward waitress Rachel Green, Courteney Cox as the obsessive-compulsive Monica Geller, Lisa Kudrow as the eccentric masseuse Phoebe Buffay, Matt LeBlanc as the struggling actor Joey Tribbiani, Matthew Perry as the sarcastic executive Chandler Bing, and David Schwimmer as the paleontologist Ross Geller.

Now in their 40s, these actors will be back on the same set for the first time since the show ended in 2004. The NBC series followed the lives of these six friends living together and share living expenses in a Manhattan apartment.

According to a movie source, "The cast haven't set the world alight since the show finished. But this film could relight some of their flagging careers in a big way. But everyone knew the story had to be right and well written. Getting the creators on board was a massive step forward for the project. The show did lose a lot of its shine in the last few seasons, but with the actors all in the forties it would be a real interest to see how their characters have developed."

Warner Brothers is willing to pay a fortune to the main cast who, on their final season, have been paid six figures for every episode and pulled 52.5 million American viewers and 10 million viewers in UK. The lead stars have also achieved household name celebrity status during the tenth and last season.

Some of the Friends cast have already expressed desire to play for its big screen debut.

Despite doubts, Lisa Kudrow is positive towards the project: "It would be so fun to be with all those people again. But our show was not like Sex and the City - ours was multi-camera, in front of a live audience. It's a completely different feel. You'd have to bring the tone down, and I don't know how it would be. I'll just stay open."

Even James Michael Tyler who played Central Perk coffee shop worker Gunther on the series says "Friends: The Movie is definitely on. I still keep in touch with a lot of the cast and they say that they are really keen. The one thing I can tell you is that I am definitely on board to do the film. I really loved my time on the show and I am looking forward to meeting up with the old gang again. I just hope we can do justice to the show in a film."

(James Michael Tyler was originally a nameless extra who made an impressive ten-year career on the series as the show's most-frequently-appearing guest star.)

Model Sophie Anderton Shares Her Life In Prostitution

It takes a lot of courage to open up and reveal an ugly past behind the glamorous life. But when career is at stake, it's better to come up clean than let other people uncover the dirty secret first. (Or if people has already discovered the dirty secret, at least you get to tell your side of the story.)

Sophie Anderton, 32 year-old British model and former star of reality TV's "I'm A Celebrity," detailed her past life as a high-priced prostitute who sold her body to pay soaring drug debts.

She was a promising fashion model when she fell into alcohol and cocaine abuse and later sorted to prostitution to support her lifestyle. She started her modeling career at the age of 16 and has already made a name for herself after appearing in the Gossard Glossies "Girl in the grass" national advertising campaign. Earning £30,000 per week, she later became an "it girl" and started a lifestyle of parties, drug, and sex.

She never fully discussed her time working as a hooker before but through British tabloid The Sun, Sophie Anderton recalled:

"In the summer of 2004 I was drinking a bottle of vodka a night and using cocaine by day. The coke ran out, my cash card was rejected and my dealer was ringing up demanding payments. I knew I desperately needed money — now."

And so with her Dolce and Gabbana and Christian Dior suits and six-inch Christian Louboutin heels, she became a high-class hooker, using her body and her name for the money-making side venture. She bedded a string of millionaire businessmen and used to charge $23,907 (15,000 pounds) an hour for her services.

The model said that her life in the prostitution ended after giving services to a "leering" overweight businessman:

"I felt sick. His face was sweaty and cheerful, like a cat who'd got the cream. For the first time, I felt like a piece of meat. He stripped, revealing a huge stomach. It was over in a minute. I left trembling and crying. I had slept with five men and made more than £50,000, which paid my drug debts and a deposit on a flat. Now I could escape."

Sophie Anderton was first exposed of her prostitution and cocaine-use in 2007 after an entrapment operation made by News of the World tabloid newspaper.

For all her experiences, the model says that she is not proud of her past but claims that the British TV and fashion industry is "awash" with girls who have fallen into vice including two household name models.

"This is the truth, warts and all. For a short while I sold my body for a lot of money. I am not proud of it."

A Christian Modeling Agency?

In the United Kingdom, a modeling agency has emerged to mix Christianity with fashion as it works to preach spiritual fulfillment to the fashion world.

Models of Life (MOL), according to its website, has been operating in the 1990s "when the founder sought to challenge and renew modeling culture." Said to be based on Christian values, the agency's philosophy is to raise awareness on modeling as leading of exemplary life and exuding inner beauty:

"Models of Life is an organization based on Christian faith as a foundation for young women to grow as models of beauty and of examples in life. The Models of Life organization was founded on the vision that beauty will not be defined by outer appearance alone but of inner soul and spirit. MOL believes that philosophy and faith defines character, and that character defines true beauty. To fulfill this vision, MOL models are taught to display exemplary beauty through posture, walking, posing, and etiquette training. To complete this vision, MOL models learn how to build character and about God through the Bible."

It's proclamation:

"To be a model is to set an example. Just at a time when the controversy over skinny models reflects how the perception of beauty is evolving, MOL aims to raise the standard of models to a new height: beauty achieved from the perfect balance and unity of spirit, mind, and physical body."

Scouting the streets of London and other cities in UK to look for model wannabees, the agency also claims to have affiliates in South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, the US, Canada, Australia and Europe. Its models have been featured on catwalks around the world including in the opening ceremony of South Korea's World Cup finals in 2002.

But despite all the years that the agency has worked in the modeling industry, less is documented about it in its website.

According to Jamie Doward, Home Affairs editor of UK's The Observer who recently published a write-up about the agency, the MOL international website has been set up by someone from a small flat in Battersea. It's European division, on the other hand, are founded by three women from Korea. Doward writes, "The organization appears to file no accounts and has no permanent UK headquarters... Repeated requests for an interview with the organization were also rejected."

Hannah Park, a woman who books venues for the agency, also declined to talk to The Observer and instead asked, "What is the problem with what we are doing? In any high street you will find modeling agencies approaching young girls, that is how they operate."

But Laurie Kuhrt, chairman of the Association of Model Agents which represents the UK's top agencies, doubted the idea of mixing religion with modeling:

"If they're genuinely trying to make contact with people with a view to turning them into good, honest Christians, I don't have a problem with that. But modeling is not about exuding inner beauty, it is about selling goods and services. When we recruit people it's solely because we think they can do big advertisement campaigns and appear on catwalks. If they can't do that, we lose a lot of money."

French Magazines Say No To Photoshop Labeling!

In France, around 50 politicians are backing a proposed law that requires glossy magazines and other image businesses to label retouched photos of models and celebrities. This action hopes to fight eating disorders and body-image issues especially among young women.

If passed, the law would affect wide range of image businesses including advertising, press photographs, political campaigns, art photography, and images on packaging.

Naturally, people in the image industry are opposing the proposed photoshop regulations. They argue that retouching is always part of the artistic interpretation.

According to Tony Chambers, editor-in-chief of Wallpaper and former art director of British GQ magazine, "The camera has always lied and always will. These things should always be taken with a pinch of salt. Fantasy and artistic interpretation are core ingredients in fashion, advertising and art photography."

Marc Ascoli, art director for various high-fashion campaigns, believes that manipulation of images cannot be avoided in any commercial presentation:

"It's so arbitrary. It's clear that there have been abuses. Sometimes heads are completely transformed. They'll change the model's eye color and hair. Sometimes I have the impression I'm looking at a window dummy. But there is such a global commercial pressure for perfection."

With or without photoshop, body-image issues prevail among humans, not just young women. True that a retouched image of a model on a magazine cover may influence a young girl's way of presenting herself, but it is not the core culprit for eating disorder. Girls are not stupid to just stare at a retouched model and believe it as the real thing. Just because one is young does not follow that one is naive.

If there's a phenomenon for eating disorder, don't you think leaders and authorities should work more on education and social awareness campaigns, not on labeling obvious photoshop images as "retouched?"

Justin Timberlake Stars In Facebook Movie

Justin Timberlake will play Sean Parker, the Napster co-founder who became Facebook's founding president, in the new movie called "The Social Network" under Columbia Pictures.

As directed by David Fincher, Justin Timberlake will have a starring role in the film about the formation of Facebook. The flick's production will begin next month in Boston then moves to Los Angeles.

Acting alongside Justin Timberlake are Jesse Eisenberg who will play founder Mark Zuckerberg and Andrew Garfield who will portray Eduardo Saverin, the Facebook co-founder "who fell out with Zuckerberg as the social network became a financial juggernaut."

The Aaron Sorkin-scripted drama is based on the book "Accidental Billionaires" and tells the evolution of Facebook and how overnight success and wealth changes the lives of the Harvard classmates who created it.

Now that a solid cast for the film has been confirmed, a facebook movie is not a laughing matter after all. On the contrary, it will be a film worth watching (and discussing) on Facebook.

London Fashion Week Embraces Diversity

The London Fashion Week this year is getting high praise and publicity for embracing diversity on the runway with an array of models who are plus-size, black, and around 70 years old.

PPQ clothing line presented its spring 2010 collection in a line-up of exclusively black girls while Sykes collection used models with wide range of ages up to 70. Fashion designer Mark Fast, on the other hand, had three size 14 models in his show.

While London Fashion Week successfully showed diversity, it did not end without controversy especially on having the plus-size models share the runway with the typical slim and pale-looking girls.

Intent to prove that his designs are not only for skinny girls, Mark Fast decided to include three bigger models on the last minute. This decision prompted his casting director to walk out. The show's stylist was also rude to the models so that the team was forced to fire her. Stylist Daniela Agnelli stepped up to save the day, including finding solution to the need of larger models for supportive underwear beneath the tight dresses. The show was overall a success, although there have been complaints about the nude thongs cutting into the plus-size model's skin and ruining the lines of the clothes.

This diversity on the catwalk is influenced by the launch of new fashion initiative, "All Walks Beyond The Catwalk", by Caryn Franklin. The British fashion expert and TV presenter believes that in order to change the shape of fashion, young designers have to be encouraged to have an inclusive attitude early in their careers.

Hopefully, this diversity on the catwalk will move towards an attitude that speaks of diversity and individuality.

Gisele Bündchen Appointed UN Goodwill Ambassador

One of the famous faces today has become the new face of global environmental action.

Brazilian supermodel
Gisele Bündchen has been appointed a Goodwill Ambassador for the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) on September 20 in a ceremony at the Washington Square Park Fountain in New York City.

As UN ambassador for the protection of the environment, Gisele Bündchen will take on the issues of climate change and environmental degradation. The supermodel has also recently advocated for the protection of the Amazon rainforest and has attended a Rainforest Alliance Gala earlier this year.

As an environmental activist, Gisele Bündchen's initiatives include the wearing of her "water dress" in 2007 to pimp her own line of Grendene sandals and promote water conservation (specifically the Xingu river which flows into the Amazon and is suffering from deforestation). Then she launched her own green blog. Later, she wore a "forest outfit" in the latest campaign for Ipanema flip flop line to raise awareness on Atlantic deforestation and to support SOS Mata Atlantica.

Gisele Bündchen is now active in her Forests of the Future project, seeking to recover gallery forest, the vegetation that surrounds rivers and streams participating in the protection of water. The supermodel will also star next spring in the animated AOL webisodes series GiGi & the Green Team where she plays the cartoon hero GiGi who "lives a double life — supermodel by day, superhero protector of the environment by night."

Gisele Bundchen's take on becoming a UN Ambassador:

"The environment has always been my passion. I grew up in a small town and I had the opportunity to live surrounded by nature. I couldn't have asked for a better childhood.

"We must act now, so future generations have the same opportunity. Mother Earth is our fundamental life-support system, and by becoming aware and responsible now, we can assist in preserving the planet.

"I have been working on environmental issues for a long time and agreed to become a Goodwill Ambassador to be part of a global and far-reaching organization. Now it's about action on a global scale to secure a healthy future for the next generation, wherever they live in the world."

Gisele Bündchen has also told reporters she believes Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva should work harder to prevent deforestation. In response, President da Silva has announced a proposal to limit sugarcane production in the Amazon and other ecologically sensitive areas as proof of his commitment to preserve the Amazon.

Now that's one of the many things a supermodel can do — using her sexiness to save the environment and specifically, pressuring government leaders to join her cause!

UN Goodwill Ambassador Gisele Bündchen now works alongside fellow Goodwill Ambassador and French photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand.

The Winning Emmy Awards 2009

The 61st Annual Primetime Emmy Awards at the Nokia Theatre on September 20, 2009 is a winner in itself.

The ceremony is well-praised for its clever and breezy presentation, thanks to the wit of charming host Neil Patrick Harris. The organizers also induce fun and creativity into the usually boring program by announced personalities talking about their hobbies and trivial facts when called to the stage. Presenters, on the other hand, are introduced through the obscure roles they played on TV before they became famous.

Aside from the outstanding presentation, highlights of the show include Sarah Mclachlan singing "I Will Remember You" during the tribute memorial and the winners of reality dance competitions Dancing With The Stars, So You Think You Can Dance, and America's Best Dance Crew dancing together on stage.

Although this year's Emmy awards have breathed new life of creativity and fun, there are some things that have not changed — the outstanding actors and television programs that remain expected winners. If there is any "spoiler" to the exciting Emmy 2009 awards, some say it's the "unexciting" winners: Mad Men is also last year's outstanding drama while 30 Rock is still the outstanding comedy; Alec Baldwin, Bryan Cranston, Jeff Probst, and Glenn Close remain Emmy winners just like before; and the Amazing Race gets the most outstanding reality competition awards seven times while The Daily Show also receives the seventh time award for the outstanding variety, music, or comedy series. Well, for this "unexciting" and "snoozing" part, blame it on the talent and ingenuity of the award-winning actors and programs.

All in all, the Emmy Awards 2009 is still the big winner of the night, something that the next Emmy awards will live up to.

Megan Fox On Rolling Stone

In yet another topic of sexiness, Megan Fox poses for the cover of Rolling Stone magazine and admits attitudes/experiences we are so familiar of. A sexy girl cutting herself in her teens and still having low self-esteem despite all the fame — that's so Angelina Jolie!

Megan Fox tells on her interview with Rolling Stones when asked if she ever cut herself:

"Yeah. But I don't want to elaborate. I would never call myself a cutter. Girls go through different phases when they're growing up, when they're miserable and do different things, whether it's an eating disorder or they dabble in cutting."

The Jennifer's Body star is also candid when talking about her low self-esteem:

"I'm really insecure about everything. I never think I'm worthy of anything... I have a sick feeling of being mocked all the time. I have a lot of self-loathing."

But the sexy star also adds, "Self-loathing doesn't keep me from being happy. But that doesn't mean I don't struggle. I am very vulnerable. But I can be aggressive, hurtful, domineering and selfish, too. I'm emotionally unpredictable and all over the place. I'm a control freak."

As proof of her unpredictable nature, Megan Fox shares some of her moments with on-again-off-again boyfriend Brian Austin Green:

"I've had to say to Brian, 'You have to go and stop talking to me, because I'm going to kill you. I'm going to stab you with something. Please leave. I'd never own a gun for that reason. I wouldn't shoot to kill. But I would shoot him in the leg, for sure."

But when it comes to eating habits and if ever she had an eating disorder before, Megan Fox refuses to say "yes" or "no":

"If I did talk about it, I'd be taking on a role-model status, and I'd have to choose my words very carefully, and I'd have to make sure I reveal it in a specific way, and I don't want to do it."

Ever since Megan Fox has been set to star in the new franchise of the Lara Croft films, people can't keep comparing her from Angelina Jolie. Though the 23 year-old actress from Tennessee hates the comparison, there are things about her that's undeniably similar to La Jolie. Her looks just keep on getting more like Angelina Jolie with each passing day — and her new revelations in the Rolling Stones magazine add to the list.

For more Megan Fox revelations, grab a copy of the newest Rolling Stone issue. For Angelina Jolie's similar words of cutting and low self-esteem, go to the Hilary Magazine and read on the Angelina Jolie interview.

15 Best-Paid Celebrities Of 2009

Forbes has once again surveyed the celebrities, categorizing the results and presenting them in a list of best or worst group.

Forbes new list of celebrities is dedicated to the 15 best-paid celebrities today. The result comes with a conclusion that the younger stars may be the most beautiful and talked-about people in Hollywood – but they are not the richest.

The latest 15 best-paid celebrities of 2009, earning $1.6 billion between June 2008 and June 2009, have one thing in common – they are oldies. Except for 28 year-old Beyoncé who ranks 7th on the survey, all of the other best-paid celebrities on the list are over 40.

The way Forbes sees it, these oldsters have "used their time wisely to build up mini empires that can withstand setbacks like global recessions."

Who do you think tops the survey?

As expected, it's the Queen of Talk herself, Oprah Winfrey. Between June 2008 and June 2009, Forbes estimates that Oprah Winfrey has earned $275 million. Her earnings have been contributed by her own TV show plus a successful magazine and her own radio station on XM satellite radio. She is also working on her own television network in a partnership with Discovery Networks.

Star Wars creator George Lucas ranks 2nd with an estimated earnings of $170 million. Having a favorable deal with toy maker Hasbro and a profit coming from his old movies, the success of the Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull film which he wrote and produced with Steven Spielberg also adds to his earnings.

Steven Spielberg, meanwhile, is following George Lucas on the list. The profits they earned from Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull film has earned $787 million at the worldwide box office. The film that Paramount studios has distributed helps not only George Lucas and Steven Spielberg, but also its lead actor Harrison Ford. Harrison Ford comes in 15th on the list with $65 million.

Madonna, the Queen of Pop, is 4th on the list with $110 million. The Hard Candy tour of this 51 year-old performer is 2008's top grossing, bringing in $280 million from 58 shows in 17 countries.

Another performer makes it to the top five – Canadian singer Celine Dion. The second highest grossing tour of 2008 after Madonna, her Taking Chances tour helps her earn $100 million.

The 15 Best-Paid Celebrities of 2009 (with their age and their earnings):

1. Oprah Winfrey, 55

London Fashion Week Celebrates 25th Year

London Fashion Week is coming to town on September 18 and to prepare for its 25th anniversary celebration, the city's hottest fashion designers, models, and artists are coming up with bright ideas to mark the occasion.

Elle UK has asked 25 of the most beautiful people of London to design a poster for the London Fashion Week and contributors include Naomi Campbell, Pat McGrath, Matthew Williamson, Rupert Sanderson, and Rob Ryan (pictured here). The 25 poster designs are featured on Elle UK's website and will be on display across the London Underground network.

Meanwhile, stunning waxworks of Kate Moss and Tyra Banks have been unveiled at the London Fashion Week area at Madame Tussauds London. The seated wax replica of Kate Moss looks innocent and youthful in an elegant dress of opulent gold full-length gown while the waxed Tyra Banks, on loan from Madame Tussauds in New York, is shown in all her signature fierceness in a black gown with a plunging neckline.

"We wanted to do something special to celebrate London Fashion Week's 25th anniversary and Kate is undoubtedly one of our most popular figures. We have created a totally different look moving away from understated chic to a really high glamour feel.

"Tyra's guest appearance ups the glam factor even more and visitors will be able to imagine they are working the catwalk themselves when they meet the Madame Tussauds stylist and can get up close and pose alongside two of the world's most
famous models."

The London Fashion Week will open on September 18 with Paul Costelloe and offerings will feature spring/summer 2010 fashion collections from Matthew Williamson, Maria Grachvogel, Charles Anastase, Clements Ribeiro, and Christopher Kane.

Though the public is not invited to hang with the big names in fashion during the trade event in Somerset House, the London Fashion Weekend is opened from September 24 to 27. Various collections from autumn/winter 2009 to spring/summer 2010 lines will be seen during the designer shopping event (ticket price starts at £12.50).

Top Model Warns Teenagers On The Downside Of The Industry

Now at 26, top Scottish model Lauren Tempany is already an experienced catwalk diva. She has been in the modeling industry for 12 years; has modeled for top designers like Alexander McQueen and Giles Deacon, has been featured in Vogue and Harper's Bazaar (then Harpers and Queen), has shared a catwalk with Kate Moss, and has hung out with Agyness Deyn and Alexa Chung.

But just like every successful models in the industry, Lauren Tempany has also met hardships especially when she was just starting with her career.

She was only 14 years old when discovered from a Clothes Show roadshow in 1997 and had three top modeling agencies fighting over her. Her first modeling job was for a perfume aimed at the teenage market.

One of Lauren Tempany's greatest challenge as a struggling model included dealing with the media and the stalkers. The Scottish model shared that she had been too candid with the media interviews that accompanied her early model shoots, not realizing that her words would come to haunt her back — she became a victim of a stalker. The model revealed her early struggles in an interview with Edinburgh newspaper The Evening News:

"Some of the early interviews I did revealed a bit too much about my home and family life, and someone was able to trace where I lived and began making loads of dodgy phone calls. We had to change all of our phone numbers. I've always tended to just blurt things out when I'm talking to people without realizing some of it might make it into the papers, but I've now learned to be a bit more careful."

Though being careful is Lauren Tempany's advice for models especially for those who are just starting out, she also believes that there is nothing endemically wrong in the modeling industry and becoming a model at 14 does not necessarily mean that one becomes a target of stalking.

"When I was first approached at the age of 14 my family were a bit dubious, but they did their research and discovered they were all legitimate agencies. However, I would advise aspiring young models to only sign for big modeling agencies because it's tough getting jobs. The smaller agencies don't get a look in and there are some people who are out to exploit you, but get nasty people in all professions though, not just modeling."

Prior to Lauren Tempany's telling of the struggles she encountered in the industry, there have been other models who stepped out to talk about the downside of modeling including 70s star Robyn Peterson and model-turned-filmmaker Zara Ziff. Recently, Indian-born fashion designer Anand Jon Alexander has been sentenced to a minimum of 59 years in US prison for sexually assaulting aspiring models as young as 14. The designer is known to dress a number of celebrities including Paris Hilton and Mary J Blige.

Warned of the downside of her profession, Lauren Tempany still finds modeling as a noble career. Though there are few obsessives along the way, she has met many wonderful people in the industry and sure finds fun in the glamorous world she walks in. She has traveled many countries to shoot for magazines, commercials, and catalogues.

Taking pride in her modeling profession, Lauren Tempany shares, "The industry comes in for a lot of unfair criticism but I've met some fantastic people while modeling, and my experience over the last 12 years has been overwhelmingly positive."

Believing that her star will soon be outshined by younger models, Lauren Tempany also sets her plans for the future while still enjoying the glitz of her career:

"Modeling really is a young person's game. I don't really have a clear idea of where I'll go after this but I'd quite like to get into film and costume, working in the wardrobe department of movie productions, but right now I can't ever see me turning down a job. I'll probably still be doing granny catalogues when I'm 60."

Taylor Swift's MTV Video Awards, With Kanye West And Beyonce

Teen pop star Taylor Swift received her first major MTV Music Video Award, got humiliated by Kanye West on stage, and won the hearts of the audience, Beyonce, and many other performers in the process.

MTV Music Video Awards gave to 19 year-old Taylor Swift the Best Female Video for "You Belong With Me" during the ceremony on Sunday September 13 in NYC. Determined by popular vote, it was not an unexpected award for Taylor Swift. She was the only country singer on the list of nominees which included Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson, Lady Gaga, and P!ink. It was natural for her to get most of the country vote, aside from the votes coming from pop music fans.

What was unexpected happened after Taylor Swift received her award. It was her moment on stage as she shared, "I always dreamed about what it would be like to win one of these one day. I never thought it would happen." Suddenly, Kanye West went up on stage and stood beside the teen pop star. Audience thought it was just a joke when the rapper grabbed the mic from Taylor Swift. But when Kanye West started ranting about how he thought Beyonce's "Single Ladies" video was overlooked, people started to realize that the rapper was up to something more than just the unexpected stage appearance.

Beside the startled Taylor Swift, Kanye West went on ranting, "Hey Taylor, I'm really happy for you, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time." Sure enough, the teenage singer who just had a dream-come-true suffered her first live-on-stage humiliation. The audience felt for the young singer as they booed Kanye West. To express their disagreement to the rapper's obnoxious behavior, the audience gave Taylor Swift a standing ovation.

Celebrities also came to back-up the young country singer — Perez Hilton and Hayley Williams started a #TeamTaylor trend on Twitter. P!ink, on the other hand, tweeted "Kanye West is the biggest piece of sh-t on earth. Quote me. My heart goes out to Taylor Swift. She is a sweet and talented girl, and deserved her moment. She should know we all love her."

But what was most remarkable was when Beyonce went up on stage later during the event to receive her Best Video Award for "Single Ladies." Showing support for her fellow recording artist, she invited Taylor Swift back on stage again and spoke "Wow, this is amazing. I remember being 17-years-old and up for my first MTV award with Destiny's Child. It was one of the most exciting moments in my life. So, I'd like for Taylor to come out and have her moment." She gave her "moment" to Taylor Swift who finally had the chance to complete her acceptance speech. Beyonce then commented, "Maybe we can try this again."

Drama and extemporaneous acts are not uncommon in the MTV Awards. Kanye West's unexpected ranting on MTV stage is just one of those many scenes that elicit public attention day after the event, but eventually become a thing of the past in a week or two. But witnessing how one successful recording artist like Beyonce heartily extending her support to a young talent like Taylor Swift who's just starting out with her first major music recognition — that's remarkable sharing of fame.

Joining the ranks of some of the greatest thinkers of all time, famous socialite turned reality TV star turned fashion retailer Paris Hilton (and her wisdom) has been immortalized in the latest edition of the 65 year-old Oxford Dictionary of Quotations.

Paris Hilton's quote, "Dress cute wherever you go, life is too short to blend in" has been published on the renowned book of memorable sayings alongside that of Confucius, Oscar Wilde, and Stephen Hawking.

The 28 year-old socialite who has also been famously quoted for saying "Every woman should have four pets in her life. "So cool that I have a quote in the dictionary," the hotel heiress writes on her Twitter page.

Besides Paris Hilton, other new quotes on the book have been credited to former vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin "What's the difference between a hockey mom and a pitbull? Lipstick" and President Barack Obama who echoed the words of Martin Luther King Jr., "The arc of history is long, but it bends toward justice."

GQ Men Of The Year Awards 2009 - With Kate Moss

The GQ Men Of The Year Awards 2009 that took place at the Royal Opera House had been glitzy and controversial.

Aside from "celebrating the cream of the crop from the world of entertainment, politics, literature, film and music," it was also the event when supermodel Kate Moss turned up late, showed some legs, and stormed out of the ceremony cursing "I'm never coming back to these f*cking awards again."

The British supermodel, known for causing troubles here and there, was supposedly at the awards ceremony to present to pal Lily Allen the GQ's Woman of the Year honor.

People who attended the ceremony might have gotten excited for the guest appearance of someone like Kate Moss so that she became the subject of onstage jest from the evening's host, James Nesbitt. The Irish actor made a joke about her appearing naked on the cover of GQ. He also said, "She's still got it. I hope she has, I gave it to her before she came on... my number."

The jibe was not taken lightly by Kate Moss. She marched out of the awards fuming, "He's so f*cking rude! How very dare he? Do you know what, I'm never coming back to these f*cking awards again."

Kate Moss past straight through Dizzee Rascal's interview and later came back to ask "Has anyone seen my lipstick?"

The rapper later told the camera, "Kate Moss has lost her lipstick - f*cking disaster."

OK. So Kate Moss did steal lights and raised hell at the GQ Men of the Year Awards 2009. Still, the awarding ceremony continued and all 22 men, one woman and one television series were deemed worthy winners:

Megan Fox Won't Do Nudity In Films, Why?

Sorry fans (and haters), but hot actress Megan Fox has already pledged not to do nudity in films.

On MTV News, the 23 year-old actress who's currently out to promote her new flick Jennifer's Body tells:

"I can't ever imagine myself doing nudity in a film. It lives forever, especially now, with the Internet. I just can't. I just can't." She adds that she's still miffed after 2008 photos of her wearing flesh-colored underwear on the Jennifer's Body set have surfaced on the web.

Aside from doing nudity, there's another thing that Megan Fox vows not to do — making a sex tape.

"Ugh, never! That's the last thing I want to see — what I look like having sex. It would take one shot of me not looking good and I would not be able to have sex ever again, because I would always just see myself looking like a hippo having sex."

Megan Fox has her own reason for not doing nudity and involving in any sex-tape scandals. Young and famous as she is, she wants to keep some parts of her life private and that includes her "private parts":

"People take everything from you when you're in this business. Your anonymity is stripped from you. They invade every part of your personal life, your relationships. Everything you say gets judged, everything you do gets judged. Literally all I have left are my private parts and I don't want to also share them with the world. I'd like to keep them private. That's why they're called that!"

Considering that Megan Fox is undeniably one of the sexiest A-list actress in Hollywood today (and a very young one at that), offers for her to get naked for a pictorial or film project will surely amass. No matter how she says "no" to nudity, producers will not stop at anything just to get her naked for the camera. Hopefully Megan Fox, known for being outspoken, will successfully turn-down every offers!

Will the "no to nudity" conviction makes Megan Fox a role model for the young people?

"It depends on what your idea of a role model is. If your idea of a role model is somebody who's gonna preach to your kids that sex before marriage is wrong and cursing is wrong and women should be this and be that, then I'm not a role model. But if you want your girls to feel strong and intelligent and be outspoken and fight for what they think is right, then I want to be that type of role model, yeah," Megan Fox has previously said in an interview with The Times.

Are Designers Ready For Fuller Models?

Crystal Renn and her fuller figure is talk-of-the-town these days. Probably the most famous plus-size model today, the size 12 model has already made it to four international Vogue editions, Italian Vanity Fair, Italian Elle, Cosmo Girl, and on Harper's Bazaar as the first plus-size model to appear on the cover of the magazine. Aside from magazine appearances, she also had stints on the catwalks for various designers including Jean Paul Gautier in 2006 (photo above) and Dolce & Gabbana.

Is fashion finally ready for a turn-around? Two prominent designers say so.

Roland Mouret thinks that we need to take a hint from the 80s. He tells Guardian:

"I see advertising going back to that powerful 1980s mentality, when girls like Linda (Evangelista) were ideal. Back in the 80s, when supermodels were several sizes larger than top models today, the clothes worked on bigger bodies. They were bright, bold, curve-enhancing."

Antonio Berardi agrees. Having troubles of finding girls with a womanly shape, he shares:

"We have to spend days altering things. We add padding and pieces that work inside the clothes to exaggerate their bodies into a more female form. I don't want all those girls with pale skin who look the same. My family is Italian – I am inspired by a womanly aesthetic."

Lily Cole: Role Model Supermodel

At barely 21 years old, British supermodel Lily Cole has already achieved international success in the modeling industry with her unusual looks – the flaming red hair, round and childlike/doll-like face, and porcelain skin have combined extraordinarily with her 5'10" height.

Add this to her "peculiarity": unlike most models who give up on education to follow the glitz of modeling, Lily Cole opted not to stop schooling despite all the fame and hectic schedules.

"It can be difficult, but I manage fine," says the supermodel of her academic/modeling/acting career. Aside from studying at Cambridge, she has a Rimmel contract to model plus a number of films as a budding actress – avantgarde film Rage, Doctor Parnassus, and Marilyn Manson's forthcoming film Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Carroll.

"I think, in the circumstances, my exams went better than they might have done. I am enjoying my degree. Sometimes it's hard with everything else that is going on, but the intrinsic learning – well, the natural geek in me loves that." "I'm really proud of my first. I put a lot of work into it so I felt I deserved it," adds Lily Cole as she is one of only three students on her course to gain a first.

Asked if she had insecurities during her teens, she says "Yes, for sure when I was younger. I can't remember what it was specifically – my height, my hair or just features I didn't like. I was like most teenagers. I wanted to look more conventional – you know, to just be the pretty girl in school."

Sure she had body issues, like everyone of us. But because Lily Cole has already made a successful living out of her unusual looks, there is nothing in her appearance that she would change. "In all honesty, I don't think I would. I have made a living off the way I look, and I have really learn to accept myself for being unusual... Yes, actually if you had asked me a few years ago what I would change about my appearance I would have wished for boobs – but I got those."

Aside from the value that the young model gives on education, Lily Cole has also campaigned for a number of ecological issues though she admits she has been too busy with school in the recent days.

Because of her determination to finish her education, participation in social issues, and acceptance and nurturing of her individuality, fans of the supermodel believe that she is a refreshing role model for young girls in this "vulgar" society.

Humbling herself, Lily Cole retorts "I don't think of myself as a role model for others, but I like to live my life by my own integrity. So in that sense I might be a positive influence. I do believe you should get over your insecurities and just try to be the best you can."

7 Steps To Being A Model

Director of Scouting for Ford Models Aaron Newbill shares his tips for aspiring models in a recent Marie Claire article:

1. Do the research beforehand.
"One should check to see who is reputable first, length in the business, and who an agency represents."

A simple scanning through magazine spreads will help you look for agents and agencies that represent the models you like. If you're going to make a call or an email to a smaller agency, gather information about the company first by researching over the web. If you are convinced they are not a scam and they have good reputation in the industry, go ahead and make the contact!

2. Make important preparations.
"Classes can be helpful to individuals in terms of self confidence and comfort with aspects of the business."

Although modeling classes are not prerequisite to becoming a model, they are very helpful especially if you do not have enough knowledge of the modeling industry and you need a confidence boost. And just like any job interview, when you are presenting yourself to the modeling agency, get ready with the information you gathered about them (their company, the models they represent, etc.)

3. Make an impression with your portfolio.
"A great portfolio is a relative concept, after all, you can't please every client all the time, but make sure that your book has enough variation that an agency can see your potential. The basis of a good book should show a model who is comfortable in front of the camera, one who has a range of expression and movement. As to length, a few great pictures can look better than a long book of fluff. A flow to the book is important — after all you want to get and keep the client's attention."

So before scheduling interviews or going to auditions and open casting calls, make sure you present a portfolio that speaks about your personality and your modeling potential. If you want to make an impression that you are versatile in front of the camera, diversify with photos of yourself in portrait/headshots, casual/commercial poses, editorial photography, swimsuits and lingerie, sports and actions, etc. Most importantly, your photos should be clear.

4. Be natural.
"I always say 'come as you are.' If you have a quirky look or style naturally, work that! Don't be concerned about changing who you are to impress an agency. When meeting prospective models we prefer to see them as they are: no makeup, natural hair, and their personality. Body-conscious clothing like skinny jeans and a tank are good so we can see the body."

Because modeling has a very wide range, you don't have to emulate styles just to be considered. Be yourself and come to the presentation like you are the next standard of style and beauty.

5. Play with the camera.
"When we meet with prospective models we ask to see a couple of snapshots or polaroids. A simple headshot, bodyshot, profile, and a smile is good."

Whether you're doing it for the portfolio or for the test shoot, always remember to bring the fun. Make yourself shine even in amateur and casual shots by striking different poses and making varied facial expressions.

6. Stand-out and shine.
"An outgoing personality is always a standout, able to express themselves and not be nervous or shy. A feeling that modeling is something they want to do, rather then something they are being pushed into is key. The models that do well are confident, ambitious and have a certain humbleness about the fact that being genetically gifted is what got them in the business. In the end this is a business and respect and professionalism is really important."

With poise and confidence, give the impression that you know what you are doing and where you are heading. Aside from the stunning look and confident gait, an outstanding personality also means arriving to interviews or photo shoots early.

7. Read before signing the contract.
"Do not sign anything without reading first! Do your research, and just go with what your gut tells you."

If you successfully make the impression and are able to get the contract, stay calm and make sure you read and understand everything before signing. If you have any questions or clarifications, don't hesitate to ask. After that, you can dance and celebrate.

From Waif To Plus-Size Model, Crystal Renn Shares Her Journey

With her memoir called "Hungry," fashion model Crystal Renn tells her journey from being a starving waif model to becoming a successful plus-size model.

Crystal Renn has been one of the many female models who starve to achieve a size 0, the only measurement that the fashion industry considered valid and model-appropriate not so long ago.

In an interview with The Post, the now size 12 model shares all the hardships that she have to go through just to be skinny and stay in the industry:

Crystal Renn was 14 when a scout told her to trim her "big" figure if she wants to become the next Gisele Bundchen. For a hopeful teen like her who stands 5'8" and weighs 165 pounds, losing weight became a profession. After 2 years of strict dieting (vegetables or plain chicken, only), she was already 5'9" and 95 pounds. That figure earned her the three-year, $250,000 contract with the agency. She dropped high school and moved to Manhattan with other models. To keep her skinny figure, she went to gym and ate less than 1,000 calories a day (vegetables for breakfast, lettuce for lunch, vegetables again for dinner).

However, her dieting soon paid its price. She lost her period and even the appeal to attract and get attracted to boys. At 18, her metabolism began to slow down. She tried to keep starving and eat as little as ever, but still she weighed 130 pounds.

At a Chicago shoot, Crystal Renn finally reached her breaking point. She arrived on the set only to be insulted by the photographer who refused to use her because she's "huge."

When she mumbled "You loved me at the casting four days ago," the producer snapped back "Did you gain 20 pounds in four days? You have to leave."

"It was the most humiliating moment of my life. But I collected myself, walked over to the catered food table and downed five plates of mini-burritos with cheese. I gorged on guacamole. I ate until I felt like I was going to throw up. 'Thanks for the food,' I yelled back and left. On the airplane home, I thought my career was over. I knew I was never going to weigh 95 pounds again. I was done. And for the first time in years, I could breathe."

But the modeling world did not really close its door on Crystal Renn. Arriving back in New York, her agent told her that she can still work as a model and aspire to work for Victoria's Secret (but never for Vogue). The option: becoming a plus-size model.

"I was too hungry to keep starving. I made my decision: I was going to be a plus-size model and let my body be what it was meant to be. When I first started eating normally again, I jumped to a size 16 for a few months before settling into a size 12. It was when I stopped starving myself that I became a famous model."

In 2004, Crystal Renn has posed for Teen Vogue. That same year, she has also fulfilled her dream of landing on the pages of American Vogue.

But making appearances in top magazines is not the only good thing that happen to a fuller, radiant Crystal Renn as she recalls, "At the same time I gained weight, I became interested in men." In 2005, the once asexual model has finally met her husband.

For all these experiences that Crystal Renn have to go through in her journey to become a model, she shares:

"Women are taught that if they get skinny, their lives will be perfect. But real life doesn't work that way. I'm here to prove it."

Bar Refaeli: "I Don't Diet"

Israeli supermodel Bar Refaeli has recently made hot gossips when some photos of her 2010 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition were leaked to Twitter.

While the 24 year-old model and former Leonardo DiCaprio squeeze is not denying any of the cellphone-shot pictures, Bar Refaeli denies dieting and following an eating plan to maintain her amazing supermodel figure.

The sexy "woman with hips" talks about her secret in UK's Hello magazine:

"I don't diet and I don't have an eating plan, but I like to eat healthily. I don't deny myself anything and there's nothing I wouldn't eat. I like desserts — I like food full-stop but I exercise and I'm young, so everything keeps in check.

"I guess every girl has days where she feels good and days where she feels she could lose a couple of pounds and it's the same for me.

"I'm generally in pretty good shape, but if I have a major shoot or fashion show coming up and I want to look my best, then I'll spend a little extra time working out or I will stick to eating salads and chicken for a few days.

"I would never go on some crazy fad diet or eat anything weird to get thinner – it's just not good for your body."

Bar Refaeli is not the first supermodel that claims to not undergoing any diet plans and strict exercise routine. This "I don't diet" comment is, in fact, starting to become the new "beauty secret" of models and celebrities.

On one hand, it makes any ordinary person frets over the idea that a model's body is basically earned through superior genes. On the other, it encourages body acceptance and learning to have fun with the body that has been given to each of us. And then from there, develop healthy habits according to different body needs.

Naomi Campbell Attacks For Dropping Black Models During Recession

Black supermodel Naomi Campbell now attacks companies for dropping black models in times of recession and says:

"This year, we have gone back all the way that we had advanced. I don't see any black woman, or of any other race, in big advertising campaigns."

Naomi Campbell has notably appeared in the Black issue of Vogue Italia last year, the sole magazine issue that has exclusively featured black models in its publication. Looking back, the 39 year-old model now observes:

"That made some noise, but, unfortunately, we are the same as before. People, in the panic of the recession, don't dare to put a girl of color in their campaign, full stop. Nor of any other race. It's a shame. It's very sad."

Despite the said dropping of black models this year, Naomi Campbell has made starring appearances in two major campaigns.

This achievement, however, is something that the black model has to work extra hard for. In an earlier magazine interview, she has been quoted as saying "You know, the American president may be black, but, as a black woman, I am still an exception in this business. I always have to work harder to be treated equally."

Fashion designer Bruce Oldfield supports Naomi Campbell's claim in an interview with Mandrake:

"It's absolutely true that black models will be not as popular for advertising companies and magazine covers as white girls. In a recession, it's probably doubly difficult for black girls to get a booking. In this climate, things are worse, but it is compounding a problem that already exists. Cover editors are going to choose white over black. Naomi is not far off the mark."

Noted teen model Chanel Iman, however, believes that making a successful career in modeling is not only a tougher challenge for black models but for ethnic models in general. Appearing in the September cover of i-D magazine with fellow black models Arlenis Sosa, Jourdan Dunn, and Sessilee Lopez, the 19 year-old American fashion model says:

"It usually takes an ethnic girl - I'm not saying black, I'm saying ethnic, let's make that clear - twice as long. We've gotta work extra-hard to stay in the game and stay with the girls who do well but aren't ethnic. Some girls can skip seasons, but us ethnic girls, we cannot skip a season, because that'll kill us."

Aside from Naomi Campbell, there are other black and ethnic celebrities who are presently fronting top advertising campaigns - Rihanna, Queen Latifah and Daria Ramirez for CoverGirl; Beyonce and Freida Pinto for L'Oreal; and Eva Mendes for Calvin Klein Underwear and CK Jeans.

Despite these remarkable commercial ads featuring black and other ethnic models, there is still no denying that white models are more prevalent in the fashion and beauty industry. But as some people say, big advertising companies are guided by profits rather than race - if black and ethnic models are contributing to large company profits, there is no way for them to be dropped.
