Gisele Bündchen Finally Weds

It's official folks. "The Body," Supermodel Gisele Bündchen finally ties the knot.

Theworld's highest paid model wed NFL star Tom Brady in a "very small and intimate" Catholic wedding held on dusk of Thursday, February 26, at a church in Sta. Monica. US Weekly confirmed this report and added that the supermodel bride wore a Dolce and Gabbana gown for the special occasion.

The gown was an ivory, lace strapless D&G creation, matched with a D&G floor-length veil and a satin headband. Unfortunately, no photos of Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady's wedding are currently available for the public as only immediate family and close friends were included on the list of invited guests.

Oh well, thanks for the gown description. We can only imagine...

Cancer-Stricken Reality TV Star Jane Goody Marries

Bald and ill, British reality TV star Jane Goody got married on Sunday. She found fame when she joined Big Brother in 2002, especially when she was diagnosed for terminal cervical cancer and was given by doctors just weeks to live.

In a lavish ceremony at a hotel in London, the 27-year old TV star was a radiant bride despite losing all her hair for chemotherapy. She has managed to get through the day by taking pain killers.

Jane Goody's marriage to 21-year old fiancé Jack Tweed might just be the latest highly-publicized event in her life, after joining the reality show. According to reports, the photo and video rights to the event were auctioned for STG1 million ($2.22 million). The money earned from the publicity of her wedding was to go to her children after her death.

Jane Goody has agreed to being a public curiosity until she dies, saying “I've lived in front of the cameras. And maybe I'll die in front of them. I know some people don't like what I'm doing but at this point I really don't care what other people think. Now, it's about what I want.”

Once mocked as ignorant and boorish on the Big Brother show, Jane Goody's decision to become a public specimen has now prompted a debate in Britain about the rights and wrongs of such public death.

Short Models For America's Next Top Model Cycle 13

Calling all short female models!

The cycle 13 of CW's America's Next Top Model is now casting for the new season of the most popular modeling competition on television. The new cycle will be a season for short female models - those who fail to meet the modeling standard or AMA's (Association of Model Agents) definition of female models, which is at least 5ft8in (1.73m) tall.

ANTM host Tyra Banks announces the new requirement for top model hopefuls while cheerfully saying, “There have been top supermodels in the past that weren’t as tall as the industry demands, like fashion icon Kate Moss. So we are changing up ‘Top Model’ for cycle 13 and making it a year for the shorter model!”

We wonder how both fashion models and ordinary people react to this new set-up. Is this just a “short-handed”attempt to change what has become conventional? Or a phenomenon that will eventually challenge the modeling standard? Interesting, that is.

So if you are a short model who only stands 5ft7in tall or less, take part in this modeling competition that has been modified to especially fit you. Who knows, Tyra Banks may just meet the next Kate Moss in you?

Creativity Defies Recession In Fashion

Betty Jackson and Paul Smith, two British designers who have survived Britain's recession in the early 80s, believe that creativity can withstand the fashion crisis.

Let's hear it from the two well-established fashion designers of today:

Betty Jackson tells Reuters, "In times like this you have to focus on what you do well and do it better and really try and not be too much affected by it.

"Of course you have to respond to it but you also have to concentrate on what you do and actually deliver what you do better.

"We're in a credit crunch not a creative crunch, so I think in fact what everybody's going to do is work harder and that will be quite exciting."

In the same way, Paul Smith believes that the key to retaining sales is sticking to classics.

"It's very important to get the balance right between the commerciality of a collection of clothes and the clothes that are going to look good in magazines and newspapers.

"If you haven't got so much money to spend, then buying things that are slightly more timeless is more important.

"People who suddenly think you should go lower in price or be more commercial, in my opinion that's the wrong way.

"Don't really compromise, don't really react to much in terms of creativity or price to the recession. Stick to your guns."

Basically, the “creativity” in fashion that these two designers advice is sticking to what you do well and making the best out of it. And considering that they have gone through previous economic storms and survived to become top players in their craft, they should know better.

Heidi Klum And Kate Moss Respond To Weight-Gain Issues

Two of our hottest supermodels are on the hot seat these days for gaining weight. Heidi Klum is making wide news coverage for the “too-fat-for-a-runway-model” comment. Kate Moss, on the other hand, is paparazzi-favorite for pregnancy rumors. But how do these supermodels respond to the issues?

Fashion Designer Wolfgang Joop recently labeled Heidi Klum “too fat” when he said, “She is no runway model! Heidi Klum is simply too heavy and has too big a bust. And she always grins so stupidly. That is not avant-garde – that is commercial!”

A day later, Heidi Klum, in all her supermodel poise (5'9.5'' and 130 pounds) replied “It’s a life where everyone can say what they want to say and everyone can have their opinion — that is his. In this business you have to be fit, but I always try to be a good role model and not too thin.”

Meanwhile, to put an end to pregnancy rumors, Kate Moss officially announced through New York Magazine that she just put on some weight.

"I am a woman now. It's true. Honestly, I've never worn a bra in my life. Ever! It's so awful, even my friends are phoning me up and saying, 'Are you pregnant?' And I'm like, 'No! I just put on a couple of pounds and they went in the right place.' Isn't that weird? Now I can fill a B-cup," she said.

Now that's classy responses to dowdy rumors. But really, Kate Moss should not blame her breast because it's actually her bloated belly that started the issue.

Know why people are seemingly obsessed with thin?

Heidi Kluminator Saves Designer Fashion

“In a world full of beauty, who will protect the beautiful?”

Heidi Klum saves the world of fashion as Kluminator in the four-part web series, “Spiked Heel: Supermodels Battle The Forces Of Evil.”

Modelinia, a style-centric site on the rise, has released the first episode of the series which stars two of today's hottest catwalk sensations, Heidi Klum and Coco Rocha.

Apparently, Heidi Klum perfectly fits the role of a fashion superhero. She's one of the most influential models to date – inspiring not just catwalk divas as a fashion spokesperson but also ordinary people as she changes costume to become a loving wife and mother at home.

Good thing Heidi Klum aka Kluminator still has time to save the... well, at least the designer fashion, for now. Otherwise, "People will be hurt -- and not just models. Real people, too!"

Beth Ditto Poses Naked For Love

In time for Valentine's Day, full-figured The Gossip vocalist Beth Ditto gets sensual as she posed naked on the debut issue of LOVE magazine.

This is not the first time that the American indie rock singer posed naked for a magazine. In 2007, Beth Ditto has stripped for NME magazine. She has also posed nude for On Our Backs, a lesbian erotica magazine.

Despite a figure like hers, which is often perceived as unflattering and not stylish, Beth Ditto has been voted as one of the coolest person in rock and has been nominated as sexiest woman of the year.

Her non-conformity helps her become sensational. She's a lesbian and a feminist. She's in a relationship with a transman. And at 210 lbs, she's undeniably a fat chick.

But these are just the right qualities that made her the first cover girl of LOVE magazine – You can just imagine what big, unconventional love Beth Ditto has to offer!

50 Dresses For 50-Year Old Barbie

Barbie will turn 50 on March 9 and for her golden anniversary, she receives a fabulous gift of 50 frocks designed by today's top fashion designers.

The celebrant will receive a red carpet-worthy gown from Marchesa. From Diane von Furstenberg, there's a hot-pink wrap dress. From designer Betsey Johnson, Barbie will look hip in an outrageous green party dress. With Nicole Miller, she will be clad in a checkerboard trapeze dress and swing coat. Carmen Marc Valvo will dress Barbie in a frothy black strapless cocktail dress with pleats. Tommy Hilfiger, on the other hand, will design a hand-beaded white minidress for the famous doll.

Needless to say, the designs reflect the personal experiences that the fashion designers had with the celebrated doll. As Carmen Marc Valvo puts it, “She's an American icon, and there has to be an interesting association between play and Barbie, and creativity and fashion.”

The 50 fabulous creations that designers have for birthday girl Barbie will be featured in her New York Fashion Week catwalk debut on Saturday.

Aside from the success that Barbie had achieved, there's much to the most popular doll that the company Mattel should be grateful for. One of them is the fact that Barbie is made of plastic and that she will be forever youthful and can easily change her style to suit the changing fashion trends.

And thank God Barbie is a doll! Otherwise, she would have to undergo many medical procedures like breast implants and botox just to strut down the runway at the age of 50.

Michelle Obama For Vogue America

The fashionably confident First Lady Michelle Obama graced the March issue of American Vogue, much to the delight of fashionistas and a lot of people who were following the affairs of the first family.

Photographed by Annie Leibovitz, Michelle Obama appeared on the magazine cover in her sleeveless magenta dress designed by her seemingly favorite fashion designer Jason Wu. Inside the magazine, an eight-page feature was devoted to the first lady who admitted that her wardrobe has been under intense scrutiny.

"I'm not going to pretend that I don't care about it. But I also have to be very practical. In the end, someone will always not like what you wear – people just have different tastes."

During the photoshoot for the magazine, Michelle Obama was allowed to choose her own outfits. She was well-praised for choosing dresses designed by Jason Wu, Narcisco Rodriguez, and J. Crew.

Meanwhile, an interviewer complimented the first lady for her fashion sense saying, "She doesn't need any help (choosing outfits). She loves fashion and knows what works for her She's never had a conversation with me about, `What do you think?' or `How did this look? And I'm glad for that."

Not to mention her influence in politics, Michelle Obama will surely influence fashion for the career woman.

Fashion Models React To Economic Crisis

“Economic Crisis” has become word of mouth these days that even fashion models, who are supposedly the representation of indulgent living, can't help but share their stories of glamour crisis.

For 23-year old Ukranian model Anna Chyzh, it was dispiriting moment in the modeling industry as she complains to Reuter, “Half price! It's half-price everywhere, in Milan, even in New York."

Just like most models, Anna sends money home to support her family. In her case, she's supporting an interior designer mother who also has troubles finding work because of recession. The young model blabs out, “She says, Anna, you have to help me now. So we have to work for Mum, we cannot refuse any contracts now.”

Backstage at an ebullient haute couture show, models like Georgina Stojiljkovic have secret worries. The 19-year old Serbian model admits, “I'm having some doubt now because of this situation. We all do it for the money so if there is no more money, maybe I should go back and focus on my studies."

Even modeling agencies are feeling the chill. Premier Model Management for example, the London-based agency that represented Claudia Schiffer, director Aidan Jean-Marie tells that their clients now pay a daily rate of 1,500 pounds from their usual rate of 3,000 pounds ($4,200).

To work out the crisis, the agency adjust its mix of "commercial models," and “image models.” Image models are considered pricier than commercial models because while the latter has a constant low-key jobs like catalog shoots, image models appear on catwalks and magazine covers. "You need both sides to survive the downturn, but the balance shifts slightly toward the commercial models," says the director.

There's economic crisis in the fashion industry indeed. But for some fashion models, the issue is still something to be shrugged and smiled about.

Despite the doubt, Georgina Stojiljkovic still sees modeling as more profit-making profession than other jobs. She says, “There is still more money in this than almost any other job. I earn more than my parents – it's kind of sad, they went to school and have worked for years."

Pablo Ballay, a 23-year-old Argentinian male model, brings hope to his fellow models as he comments, “A lot of models here are from Argentina, and when you live in that kind of country you live in a continuous crisis. So you see how well people live here and you say, what, this is a crisis?"

Pinnochio Becomes A Real... Armani!

My, my, Pinocchio comes to reality not as a boy but as the 74-year old fashion designer, Giorgio Armani.

In the latest gimmick of PETA protesters, the Italian fashion designer's image was “photoshopped”to make his nose grow some 8 inches longer and resemble like that of the fictional boy Pinocchio. The image would obviously be interpreted as, “Giorgio Armani is a liar!”

PETA's accusation stemmed from the fashion designer's statement over the use of furs last year. He was quoted by TIME Magazine as saying, "I spoke with the people from PETA, and they showed me some materials that convinced me not to use fur."

However, PETA argued that Giorgio Armani was not true to his words because he still featured furs in his latest collections.

"To satisfy the whims of luxury, Armani is sentencing countless rabbits - one of the gentlest species - to a horrific life and a violent death in China, a country with no animal protection laws," PETA's Senior Vice President had said.

And so last Tuesday in San Francisco, PETA protesters rallied outside Giorgio Armani's store, carrying posters of the “Pinocchioed” fashion designer. They urged every Oscar nominee not to wear Georgio Armani's creations to the upcoming Academy Awards.

Poor Pinocchio...er, Armani!

Heidi Klum Mercilessly Sues Jobless Man?

It's “People of Germany versus Heidi Klum!”

Germans are angry over supermodel Heidi Klum's heavy-handed approach of suing a jobless man who uses her photo for an advertisement.

Heinz Frank, a 45-year old unemployed butcher downloaded an image of Heidi Klum (as shown below) from the internet for a flier of a local dance in Chemnitz, Germany.

After learning that her image was used for business interest without her consent, Heidi Klum called on her lawyers to sue the butcher. She eventually won the case and has gained £2,000 for damages.

What's worst for the jobless butcher was that he did not know who the woman in the picture was: “I just though she looked nice and would be appealing on the advertising leaflet. It was all completely harmless.”

An honest mistake or not, it was not the issue now.

When people learned about the incident, they expressed sympathy for the man and Heidi Klum came under fire. People just couldn't understand why the top-earning supermodel with a Forbes-estimated annual income of £10 million did not give any consideration for the man who only gets £300 a month (when he was employed).

Because the poor butcher was unemployed and had no money to pay the millionaire supermodel, it was the German socialite and actress Jenny Elvers Elbertzhagen who paid the £2,000 for Heidi Klum.

“I read his story and just knew I had to help. He didn’t know it was her, didn’t make any money and I really do not understand why Heidi Klum has got all heated up over such a trifle,” says the actress.

Meanwhile, the jobless Mr. Frank was very grateful and has come to a realization: “It is nice to think that not all people in the world are like Heidi Klum.”

Angelina Jolie Is Erika Salt

Angelina Jolie will once again star as butt-kicking vixen in Phillip Noyce's spy thriller “Salt.”

Originally titled as "Edwin A. Salt," the film produced by Columbia Pictures was supposedly to be played by Tom Cruise. The 46-year old actor who's already a veteran of many action films had long been expected to lead the film. We never knew what went wrong with the deal but when the role was finally handed to the sultry Angelina Jolie, the story was rewritten and the protagonist became Erika Salt.

While the espionage thriller to the film was redrafted, sources said that the project did not require much overhaul to suit the female lead.

As Erika Salt, Angelina Jolie plays a CIA officer accused of being a Russian sleeper spy. She eludes and gets captured by superiors who are convinced that she is out to assassinate the president. While trying to reunite with her family, she struggles to prove someone else is the traitor.

Here's the good news to aspiring young actors out there:

Expected to go into production in February 2009, the film Salt is currently casting for a child actor to portray the role of the young Erika Salt. Check the casting to view the detail. Who knows, you might become the next action goddess like Angelina Jolie!

Omahyra Mota: Chic Punk Supermodel

Here's one model who stands out from the rest with her tattoos, piercings, and Gothic-punk-chic attitude – Omahyra Mota Garcia.

At the age of 24, the salient beauty from Dominican Republic was already well-known in the fashion industry as a chic punk model. As early as 2001, she was already a recognized fashion icon as she was voted one of the 50 most beautiful people by People Magazine.

The prominent feature and edgy style of Omahyra Mota has also made her a sought-after fashion model, representing the clothes of top fashion designers like Alexander McQueen, Baby Phat, and Jean Paul Gaultier. She has walked the Victoria's Secret runway show. Her androgynous looks also helped her model for both men's and women's clothing.

And just like any prominent models, Omahyra Mota was also featured in films. So far, the most impressive acting of this chic punk supermodel was in X-Men: The Last Stand where she played Arclight.

Pretty amazing for a punk who rebel against traditional modeling, eh?
