Susan Boyle: Fame Is A Giant Demolition Ball

Unlikely singing sensation Susan Boyle is having a hard time adjusting to her new life as a celebrity and says that sudden fame has hit her like a "giant demolition ball."

On NBC's "Today" morning show, the former Church singer revealed to interviewer Meredith Vieira that fame has overly affected her:

"The impact, like a demolition ball. You know, and anyone who has that kind of impact - finds it really hard to get a head around it."

After an exhausting finale on Britain's Got Talent that has sent her to hospitalization, Susan Boyle is now working on an upcoming album with American Idol and Britain's Got Talent judge (and famous talent manager) Simon Cowell.

"I've got to be honest here. I guess I had to get my head around it, but through the - the guidance of a great team, and they are very good, I was able to see that in perspective and really turn that around a little," she added.

Back in April, Susan Boyle was just a 48-year old spinster from Scotland who was hoping to change her life through the reality singing competition. Then it turned out that beneath her dowdy appearance lies the angelic voice. Her rendition of Les Miserables' I Dreamed A Dream has been revered by both celebrities and ordinary people throughout the world, especially after the live video performance was uploaded on YouTube. It attracted 275 million views and made her an international star.

Now, the new Susan Boyle is just as anxious as she is hopeful with her overnight rise to fame.

"Being plucked from obscurity is a bit like, you know, going on a long journey. You don't know what's going to happen. You don't know how it's going to end. I don't want it to end."
