Stampede At America's Next Top Model Audition

In the highly-publicized New York audition of America’s Next Top Model on Saturday, organizers were not able to control the stampede arising from thousands of model hopefuls. (Many women obviously responded to ANTM’s casting call for short models or those who are 5’7” and below.)

Apparently, a car overheated and blew smoke and someone from the crowd cried out, “There’s a bomb!” (Whoever applicant cried that should not be considered for lack of “poise under pressure!”) The crowd went on hysteria, eventually causing the stampede. Two women and a man were charged with disorderly conduct and inciting a riot. On the other hand, six women were required medical attention.

The audition was shut down but no Tyra Banks and no representatives of America’s Next Top Model gave their comment. Many model hopefuls blamed the chaos on bad organization and inability of the applicants to leave the queue to go to the toilet or get food.

Whew! All the things that a (short) model must do to earn a spot in the world…
