Cancer-Stricken Reality TV Star Jane Goody Marries

Bald and ill, British reality TV star Jane Goody got married on Sunday. She found fame when she joined Big Brother in 2002, especially when she was diagnosed for terminal cervical cancer and was given by doctors just weeks to live.


In a lavish ceremony at a hotel in London, the 27-year old TV star was a radiant bride despite losing all her hair for chemotherapy. She has managed to get through the day by taking pain killers.

Jane Goody's marriage to 21-year old fiancé Jack Tweed might just be the latest highly-publicized event in her life, after joining the reality show. According to reports, the photo and video rights to the event were auctioned for STG1 million ($2.22 million). The money earned from the publicity of her wedding was to go to her children after her death.

Jane Goody has agreed to being a public curiosity until she dies, saying “I've lived in front of the cameras. And maybe I'll die in front of them. I know some people don't like what I'm doing but at this point I really don't care what other people think. Now, it's about what I want.”

Once mocked as ignorant and boorish on the Big Brother show, Jane Goody's decision to become a public specimen has now prompted a debate in Britain about the rights and wrongs of such public death.
