Stardom Begins With A Click

After all the success that Gregg Avedon has achieved from modeling and acting, all that he could impart for aspiring models is simple picture-taking?

The truth is, yes. But top and rare male supermodel Gregg Avedon is very passionate about this “simple picture-taking” task. In fact, he considers a good picture as basic for the modeling and acting career. According to him, when a model or an actor presents him/herself to a talent scout or casting agent, the first thing that the agent will ask is usually his/her picture. This is the why the aspirant should see to it that s/he has the most presentable professional picture in hand.

Hmmm, sounds reasonable.

Gregg continues that when an aspiring actor is ready for audition, a headshot photo should be presented. For a successful headshot, Gregg suggests a photo that “represents you, the way you really look, the real you, with eyes that speak...”

Now wait, it's understood that models and actors project on the camera. But how can they make their eyes speak in the picture?

Tough challenge, huh. Better yet, read more of Gregg' modeling and acting tips on Advice corner.

Sunglasses Models

People with attractive, strong facial features and great smiles are fit to become sunglasses models.

People wear sunglasses to have eye protection from the sun. During the spring season and sunny days, sunglasses are very popular outdoor apparel. Sunglasses are often worn just for aesthetic purposes, or simply to hide the eyes like the teashades and mirrorshades. Some people even wear sunglasses to present their identity.

Because of the popularity of wearing these darkened eye lenses, there are many companies who invest in launching commercials that highlight the wearing of sunglasses of selected models, especially those with pleasant and outgoing appearance.

Eyewear companies do not emphasize on what ethnicity or race are suited to model sunglass collections. The wearing of the darkened spectacles do not usually highlight the color of the skin or height of the models, except in special cases when sunglass modeling is intended to attract consumers from a certain race or social grouping. However, preference for this type of modeling usually favors on people with strong facial features and great smiles. Other physical attributes like the height of the model and fullness of the lips are also necessary sometime to display a distinctive look of elegance and sophistication.

Now that sunglasses have become a major fashion essential, eyewear companies are seeking for sunglass models who will take the lead in helping people find the right pair of sunglasses for everyone.

How Much Can A Model Earn?

Top Modeling Question: How Much Can A Model Earn In A Day?

So, you've posted your modeling portfolio and instantly attracted casting agents for a professional modeling work. Got any idea how much you can earn with the once-in-a lifetime opportunity that you just opened on the door?

Aaron Marcus, famed author of the book, “How to Become a Successful Commercial Model,” provided answer for the top question that perpetually haunted neophyte models.

According to him, modeling payment vary a great deal. In New York City for example, a model can earn up to $250 an hour, or $2,000 for an 8-hour full day booking. In Washington, DC/Baltimore commercial models is usually paid for $125 to $150 hour.

There is a price to pay, however. Models receive bonuses for high-exposure format jobs like posing on billboards and posters. This is because a model who poses for a billboard commercial is expected to lose other bookings especially those coming from rival companies. Moreover, s/he will also lose other modeling opportunities due to over-exposure.

But if the price is right, there's more to gain for the model who takes the risk. A Gilette endorser from L.A. Models, for instance, was negotiated a $300,000 print booking. Aside from this, the model also receives different payment for his commercial on TV.

Show me the money!

Uploading Video to your Portfolio Page

Upgraded Portfolios for Models and Actors can now display VIDEO!

The new improved portfolio design now can display video. Yes - here's your chance to give yourself a casting edge. If you have video from a commercial or fashion show, etc. that you were in, upload it for display on your New Faces portfolio. If you don't have any professional video, then write yourself a script that introduces who you are (best to use just your display name not full name) and what your talents and experience are, and what type of work you are looking for. Practice it and then get someone to film you or set your digital camera on a tripod or steady surface and get filming.

To upload your video, just log into the NewFaces.com member LaunchPad area and click on the “Photos and Videos” tab, then on the “Videos” tab.

You will first need to upload your video to either Google Video (set it to Private at Google Video if you don’t want it to display at Google Video) or www.YouTube.com and copy the “Embed” code (on the right hand side of the video in YouTube) and paste the Embed code into the “Videos” area in your New Faces LaunchPad.

Please note that only upgraded members (Basic Plus, Silver, Platinum, and Elite member levels) can display video on their New Faces portfolios. Free Basic members can not display video on their portfolio page.
