Offspring Entertainment and Walt Disney Pictures have begun production on the Nicholas Sparks feature film, "The Last Song" starring Miley Cyrus. Miley's mother, Tish Cyrus will executive produce, Adam Shankman and his sister Jennifer Gibgot will handle production for Offspring Entertainment.
Principal photography begins late June, 2009 (the Hannah Montana TV series wraps in May) and will run through September, 2009. Specific dates TBA. The filming locations will be in Savannah, Georgia and other nearby coastal locales. Julie Anne Robinson (Pushing Daisies, Grey's Anatomy, Samantha Who, Coming Down the Mountain) will direct.
"The Last Song" is a drama centered on a rebellious young woman who is sent to spend the summer with her estranged father.
Associate casting director Timothy Donner needs actors to fill the roles of several characters. Auditions will be held in Wilmington and Savannah with callbacks in Savannah.
SEEKING:
1.) MALE (60-70; any ethnicity) - PASTOR HARRIS. A mentor to the Steve Miller character who is Ronnie's (Miley Cyrus') father. Injured in the local church fire, he continues to be an inspiration to Steve and the community as they rebuild the church. He is a kindly, devout pastor;
2.) FEMALE (late teens; any ethnicity) - CASSIE. The Ashley character's friend and cohort. Attractive cheerleader type. Part of Ashley's clique, Cassie openly disapproves of Ronnie's relationship with Will. She's also smart enough to be interning in the DA's office. This pays off when she sees Ronnie get sentenced for jail time, information that she takes right to Ashley and then right to Will’s mother during her daughter’s wedding. She's conniving;
3.) FEMALE (22-24; any ethnicity) - MEGAN. Will's sister. Attractive. Megan is an old soul who's been through a lot with her brother and they developed a special bond dealing with the loss of their younger brother, Mikey. During her wedding she is the only one of the Blakelees that shows Ronnie any warmth;
4.) MALE (25-27; any ethnicity) - MEGAN'S HUSBAND. Attractive. Megan's new husband dances with her during their wedding;
5.) MALE (50-60; any ethnicity) - JUDGE. A judge sets a hearing for Ronnie for shoplifting;
6.) MALE or FEMALE (30-45; any ethnicity) - LAWYER. A Lawyer represents Ronnie on her shoplifting trial;
7.) MALE (18-20; any ethnicity) - TEDDY. Tattooed and pierced street thugs and part of Marcus' crew, Teddy is adept at hackeysac, juggling, and break dancing as part of a show they put on at the warf to earn money. Must be able to breakdance, juggle and play Hakey Sac. (SAG role);
8.) MALE (18-20; any ethnicity) - LANCE. Tattooed and pierced street thugs and part of Marcs' crew, Lance is adapt at hackeysac, juggling, and break dancing as part of a show they put on at the wharf to earn money. Must be able to breakdance, juggle and play Hakey Sac. (SAG role);
9.) MALE or FEMALE CHILD ACTOR (appears to be 5; any ethnicity) - LITTLE KID. 5-years-old, who can cry. When Marcus' crew rough houses, they accidentally knock down a small boy or girl. Ronnie rushes over to save him;
10.) FEMALE (18+; any ethnicity) - KID'S MOTHER. At the sight of her kid being knocked down, his mother rushes over and thankfully takes him from Ronnie;
