Theatre Askew, New York’s “premiere queer theatre,” is casting the New York premiere of Cornbury: The Queen's Governor. William M. Hoffman (As Is, The Ghosts of Versailles) & Anthony Holland, writers; David Greenspan & Everett Quinton, actors; Tim Cusick, dir.; Kevin Kennison, casting dir. Rehearsals begin Dec. 15; runs Jan. 23-Feb. 8 at the Hudson Guild Theatre, 441 W. 26th St., NYC.
SEEKING:
FEMALE (20 to 35; African-American) - AFRICA. An African princess currently in servitude to Lord Cornbury, proud, sensible, lethal if necessary, must be physically striking, with strong comedic, vocal, and movement skills, ability to play piano a plus but not required;
MALE (20 to 35; Caucasian) - RIP. Blonde, very handsome, son of the Dutch pastor of St. Mark’s in the Bowery, a “good boy” who’s always played by the rules, but can’t help feeling there’s something he’s missing out on in life, ends up siding with Cornbury against his father;
FEMALE (35 to 50; Caucasian) - MARIE. French aristocrat raised in the court at Versailles, Cornbury’s wife, sensual, pleasure-loving, feels “exiled” in New York, shrewd but crazy, a kleptomaniac, dramatically devout Catholic, with strong comedic skills, excellent French accent required
