Folger Theatre (Washington DC) is casting The Winter’s Tale by William Shakespeare. Jane Alexander Griffin, artistic prod.; Beth Emelson, asst. artistic prod.; Blake Robison, dir.; Liz Woodman, NY casting consultant. Rehearsals begin Dec. 29; runs Jan. 28-March 8, 2009 with possible extension until March 15.

MALE (40 to 50) - LEONTES. King of Sicilia, powerful but dark-souled monarch, strong-willed, egotistical, suspicious, inflexible and reckless in his decision making, an “Othello who is his own Iago,” must exude power yet display a degree of vulnerability in his jealousy and later repentance;
MALE (40 to 50) - POLIXENES. King of Bohemia, kindler-gentler monarch, strong, stately, more open than his friend, more “classically good-looking” than Leontes, also shows a dark side in spite of his affability;
MALE (50 to 60) - CAMILLO. Senior counselor or chief of staff to Leontes, wise, cautious, trustworthy elder statesman, very loyal, moral compass
