"Super Fly" Equity Principal Auditions

The Mungioli Theatricals, Inc. is holding Equity Principal Auditions for the play "Super Fly".

Equity agreement TBD – either Workshop (weekly minimum $736 (6-day week)) or Special Agreement ($1,703/week minimum)

SEEKING:

1.) MALE (late 20's-early 40's; African American) - PRIEST aka SUPER FLY. Lead Role. Must be a Great Singer; Tall and Extremely Sexy. Must have the stature & physique to play this iconic wide-brimmed hat and chinchilla-coat wearing style; VOCALLY, ACTOR MUST BE A VERY STRONG AND ROMANTIC R&B VOCALIST WITH A STRONG HIGH BELT AND R&B FALSETTO ABOVE THAT. We are looking for a first-class singer with honesty and integrity -- someone who will display alpha-male essence more than vocal tricks. The singing required is honest 1970s R&B (no post-Mariah riffing!). ACTOR MUST ALSO BE ABLE TO MOVE WELL;

2.) FEMALE (20's-30's; African American) - GEORGIA. Lead Role. A Fabulous Singer – the headline performer at Harlem Nightclub. HAS GREAT BEAUTY AND SEXUAL ENERGY; Must be a strong actress able to handle the sole Female Lead in the show (Book scenes and solos). VOCALLY, SHE MUST INCORPORATE SKILLS OF ALL THE GREAT FEMALE VOCALISTS OF THE 1970’s: HIGH BELT; SPARKLING HIGH NOTES; RICH THROATY ALTO REGISTER; SOULFUL PHRASING; The singing required is honest 1970s R&B (no post-Mariah riffing!). THE ROLE IS A STAR R&B PROFESSIONAL SINGER, SO SHE MUST HAVE THAT EXTRA DEGREE OF VOCAL AND PERFORMANCE POLISH;

3.) MALE (late 20's-mid 30's; African American) - EDDIE. A wiry fast eyed Black Man; Must be a great actor, sing well, and be able to move with great style and rhythm. MUST BE FAMILIAR WITH MUSIC OF THE PERIOD & BE ABLE TO SING THIS MUSIC WITH GREAT PASSION; MUST BE ABLE TO DANCE OR MOVE WELL;

4.) MALE (20's; African American) - FAT-FREDDY. Physically Round & Heavy-Set; (Subject of the well-known song, ‘FREDDIE’S DEAD.”) ACTOR MUST BE FAMILIAR WITH MUSIC OF THE PERIOD & BE ABLE TO SING THIS MUSIC WITH GREAT PASSION AND STYLE & BE ABLE TO MOVE;

5.) MALE (60's; African American) - SCATTER. Priest's Mentor who gave him entrée into the world of the Mafia; ACTOR MUST BE FAMILIAR WITH MUSIC OF THE PERIOD & BE ABLE TO SING THIS MUSIC WITH GREAT PASSION & BE ABLE TO MOVE;

6.) MALE (late 40's-late 50's; Caucasian) - RIORDAN. Police Officer in charge of Street Investigations; ACTOR MUST BE ABLE TO SING, AS WELL AS HAVE SOME MOVEMENT ABILITY.
