Synopsis:
Following a sold-out run at last year's Public LAB, BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON returns! BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON audaciously redefines America's seventh president, the man who invented the Democratic Party and doubled the size of our nation, with a raucous blend of outrageous comedy, anarchic theatricality and an infectious emo rock score.

SEEKING:

1.) MALE (mid 20s-early 30s; any ethnicity) - SENATOR CALHOUN/ENSEMBLE. A gentleman senator for the South. Sinister. Good-looking, charming and brilliant. A vain mastermind. Wears the finest clothes. A role for a great young comedic actor. Baritone;

2.) MALE (mid 20s-mid 30s; any ethnicity) - HENRY C. CLAY/ENSEMBLE. Senator with more backwoods roughness about him than Washington sophistication. Over the top and vivacious. Once challenged a fellow politician to a duel and lived to tell the tale. He is something of a villain and revels in his duplicity. It's helpful if he is somewhat tall and cadaverous-looking. This role will double and may be played by an actor of any ethnicity. Baritone;

3.) FEMALE (20s; any ethnicity) - SOLOIST/ENSEMBLE. Seeking an edgy, self-confident singer with a powerful indie rock voice, rather than a musical theater sound. Character has a mysterious, intense, brooding, hip vibe. This is a role for an inventive, unique actress with a wickedly dry sense of humor. Alto; belts to Bb;

4.) MALE (20s-early 30s; any ethnicity) - ANDREW JACKSON. The President of the United States. High baritone rock voice; belts to G. Guitar-playing a plus;

5.) MALE (mid 20s-mid 30s; any ethnicity) - PRESIDENT MONROE/ENSEMBLE. Role will double;

6. MALE (20s-30s; any ethnicity) - RED EAGLE/ENSEMBLE. Leader of the Creek nation. Role will double;

7.) FEMALE (20s-30s; any ethnicity) - RACHEL/ENSEMBLE. Jackson's long-suffering wife. Role will double;

8.) MALE (20s-30s; any ethnicity) - SOLOIST/ENSEMBLE. Plays multiple small roles. Strong pop-rock voice;

9.) MALE (20s-30s; any ethnicity) - MARTIN VAN BUREN/ENSEMBLE. Role will double;

10.) MALE (20s-30s; any ethnicity) - JOHN QUINCY ADAMS. Role will double;

11.) FEMALE (20s-30s; any ethnicity) - ELIZABETH/ENSEMBLE. Jackson's mother. Role will double;

12.) MALE (20s-30s; any ethnicity) - THE STORYTELLER/ENSEMBLE. An irreverent narrator of sorts;

13.) MALE CHILD (8-12; any ethnicity) - LYNCOYA. Actor age 8-12, but looks as young as possible. Young Native American boy who is raised by Jackson and his wife. The Public Theater especially encourages actors of color to audition for this role.


THEATRE'S NOTE:
"We are looking for actors with great pop-rock voices, not legit music theater. All actors must have strong comedic abilities and a great ensemble sensibility. Actors should be able to move well. Stage combat experience a plus."
