Synopsis:
25 pages, 10 dance numbers and 6 songs to learn in 36 hours. That's the plight of Peggy, a small-town chorus girl arriving fresh off the bus in the Big Apple. With determination, a little luck, and the lullaby of Broadway propelling her, this bright-eyed gal has the talent and heart to become a star. Toes will be tapping to this show-stopping, Tony Award-winning musical.

SEEKING:

1.) FEMALE (40s; any ethnicity) - DOROTHY BROCK. A Broadway star and more than a little bit the Diva but with the presence and talent to back it up. At a crossroads in both her professional and personal life. Perhaps, this is what causes her to "act out." However, in the end she displays great heart. Requires a great singer who dances reasonably well. MEZZO;

2.) FEMALE (20s; any ethnicity) - PEGGY SAWYER. A true ingenue. Ingenuous in the best sense of the word -open, fresh-faced, honest and trusting with real determination and talent. She grows up over the course of the play into a young woman with her feet planted firmly on the ground. A great actress, great tapper, great singer. MEZZO BELTER;

3.) MALE (late 20s; any ethnicity) - BILLY LAWLOR. Self-described as "one of Broadway's better juveniles." He's honesty, warmth and charm personified. Also a great tapper, actor, singer. BARI-TENOR;

4.) MALE (40s; any ethnicity) - BERT BERRY. One of the writers of the show in which he also plays the leading character role. Straight out of vaudeville. Has a dry wit and real charm. A good guy. Character singer/dancer;

5.) MALE (30s; any ethnicity) - ANDY LEE. The choreographer. Very capable. Perhaps a bit excitable. A very good tapper;

6.) MALE (40s; any ethnicity) - PAT DENNING. A contemporary of Dorothy. An actor who is a bit down on his luck right now. Very sympathetic. A really nice guy who is genuinely in love with Dorothy despite the fact he is frequently ill-used. Does not sing;

7.) FEMALE (late 20s-early 30s; any ethnicity) - ANNIE. Wise-cracking, somewhat hard-bitten chorus girl with a great heart. Another great actor, tapper and singer. MEZZO BELTER;

8.) MALES & FEMALES (18+; any ethnicity) - ENSEMBLE. Dancers who sing. MUST be excellent tappers
