Northwestern University/Studio 22 Student Production seeking talent for a WWII drama based on a true story.
SUMMARY:
In the summer of 1945, Edith, a Midwestern woman wakes to begin the most important day of her life. She dresses her newly born daughter, Patsy, in her "Sunday best" in preparation for a trip to the local, rural train station. At the train station, Edith waits to pick up her husband, Stan, a recently liberated Prisoner of War. When the train finally reaches the depot the ultimately unexpected occurs, thus changing everything.
SEEKING:
FEMALE (30s; Caucasian) - Edith. Lead. Curvy brunette, short to medium height. Edith is a very loyal and determined woman. She's persevered through a long pregnancy while her husband Stan was Missing in Action in Germany. She is both anxious and eager to see her husband again, but fails to recognize him at the train station. When she eventually is reunited with Stan, she feels regret but can only offer him their daughter in hopes of turning the situation into a welcoming one.
MALE (30s; Caucasian) - Stan. Lead. Medium height. Thin. Despite past malnutrition, Stan's a real all-American man. A college graduate who had worked on the family farm until the draft called him to the army. After spending time in a Prisoner of War camp he returns home hoping return to his simple, normal life, but he can't register the fact that war has changed him. He feels saddened when he realizes that his wife left him at the train station, but tries to overlook that when he meets his new daughter.
FEMALE (late 60s; Caucasian) - Louisa. Supporting Role. Short, tiny, domestic, pleasant old housewife. STAN's mother. Louisa is a very obedient homemaker and loving mother. She is eager about her son's return and tries to keep herself occupied until he arrives.
MALE (late 60s; Caucasian) - Ed. Supporting Role. Short to medium height, average build, gray-haired, thoughtful, weathered farmer. STAN'S father. Supporting role, no lines. Ed is a hard working farmer who has lived on his family farm raising cattle. He goes to pick up STAN at the train station when EDITH accidentally leaves him at the depot. He is a simple and calm man, who doesn't get worked up when conflict arises.
FEMALE (infant up to 9 mos; Caucasian) - Patsy. Cameo Role. Dark hair (preferred), calm around new people, peaceful and angelic.
