Casting Lead Roles in "Johnny Violence"
"Johnny Violence" is an exciting exploration of pop culture and pop psychology in which the elements of black comedy twist tightly with the genre of action adventure. It all begins as two identical, yet opposite, men trace parallel paths of destruction across a small Midwestern town. Although both black-clad individuals look exactly alike, they are as different as two people can possibly be. One is a sweet, sloppy man-child whose only motivation appears to be to help a young lady named Dot, who looks to be the focus of all the madness. The other is a sophisticated, well groomed gentleman who seems to kill for no reason at all. The one thing the pair have in common is that they are both 'Johnny Violence'. The mayhem continues until the duplicates converge, culminating in one final surreal confrontation. Who are these men? Where are they going? Just what exactly is going on here? Only one thing is for certain: once you've seen Johnny Violence, your concept of an evil twin will never be the same again.
SEEKING:
Male - Caucasian - 30 to 40
JOHHNY/FRED VIOLENCE - Same actor playing twins. Johnny is the very definition of disheveled. His goatee, long unkempt hair, and stubble-strewn face would serve to cap off quite a fearsome appearance if not for his confused, wide-eyed, boyish, lip-biting expression. Fred is the polar opposite of Johnny, even though they are identical twins. His long slick hair, and goatee are meticulously groomed. He is impeccably dressed, and perfectly neat. Fred’s narrow eyes and smug features always convey a touch of disdain even when he is at his most charming.
Female - Caucasian - 18 to 24
DOT - Petite and cute with a youthful sweet appearance. Like Johnny, she has a very innocent look about her. However, unlike Johnny, she's got quite a bit more going on upstairs, and is much more “normal.” Still, the two seem to share certain childlike qualities. Dot is a small town girl who feels life has only just passed her by. She is shy, but it is her charisma that carries the audience along through the movie’s twists and turns. Dot is the audience’s perspective. She brings the viewer with her as she is initially pulled into a seemingly random night of violence.
Male - Caucasian - 18 to 24
HURL - The leader of the small town chapter of the local “Screaming Wigglies.” Hurl is an older Wiggly. He is a guy with something to prove. He is more or less amoral. He is a sarcastic smartass with all the refined temperament of a professional wrestler. While he is more than “man enough” to keep the local Wigglies in line, when it comes to the Violence twins he is definitely in over his head. Although a combination of ego, bravado, and testosterone will not allow him to admit it.
Male - Caucasian - 18 to 24
CHUCK - Hurl’s loyal second in command and his direct shadow. While Chuck shares Hurl’s lack of culture he does not share in his confidence. Although he is much larger, Chuck exudes the smarmy nervousness of one who believes he is cool but in reality siphons all his self-respect from his “Hero.” Chuck’s hero happens to be Hurl.
Female - Caucasian - 30 to 40
MOM - Johnny & Fred’s mother in flashbacks. She has done her best to raise her boys, though their extreme opposite personalities caused much conflict in the family. Role requires heavy emotional expression during scenes of extreme violence.
Male - Caucasian - 30 to 40
DAD - Johnny & Fred’s father in flashbacks. Born into wealth, he is sloth-like, and served as Johnny’s role model in regard to his junk food and television viewing habits, though he's jovial, personal and likable as well. You get the feeling that the boys got some of their charisma and dynamism from him.. Role requires heavy emotional expression during scenes of extreme violence.
Male - All Ethnicities - 18 to 24
SCREAMING WIGGLIES - Gang members of various looks, races. The Wigglies are a surreal kind of street gang. They are more like the gangs in “A Clockwork Orange” than any actual representation of a gang. They have their own method of speaking and acting, and can be funny, while still remaining a real threat. Unlike the gangs from “A Clockwork Orange”, these gangsters are a collection of extreme teen stereotypes, complete with energy drinks, spastic motions and nonsensical screamed slogans. All Wigglies are named for different words for vomiting… Ralf, Chuck, Hurl, etc., and they all wear the “Screaming Wigglies” patch. (An insignia of an enraged worm, mouth wide, screaming.)
