Synopsis:
THE SOUL IS WHAT REMAINS is a mockumentary which tells the story of RAHEEM WILLIAMS, a gangster whose primary desire is to have the story of his life preserved for history. There have been a number of TV shows, documentaries, and films which have attempt to address the harsh realities of the street life but, for the most part, they are unrealistic, deceptive, and outright incorrect. THE SOUL OF WHAT REMAINS is in a sense a satirical account of what is a story told over and over about the lives of black folk on the streets.

SEEKING:

1.) MALE (29-35; African-American) - RAHEEM. A legendary almost archetypal gangster figure in his neighborhood. He is charming and intelligent but can also be very cold blooded and heartless. Raheem is a deep believer that there should be a code to the street life to keep the violence and chaos at bay. He also feels as though there are very few people who can understand what it truly means to be a gangster as well as he does. Raheem's journey is at the center of this film, for as he tells his story and offers his insights, his world begins to breakdown as well. Raheem is the only character that goes through a major change in this film;

2.) MALE (47-57; African-American) - UNCLE ANTONIO. The uncle of both Raheem and Chris. He was a long time pimp who had left the street life in recent years but offers counsel to his nephews. Antonio has already gone through the breakdown that is going to possess Raheem. He has a life threatening illness which has caused him to review his life and how he lived it. He is trying to talk to his nephews about his mistakes and the poor advice he offered them as they were growing up;

3.) MALE (23-29; African-American) - CHRIS. Cousin of Raheem and Nephew of Antonio. Chris is the second most influential gangster behind Raheem. Chris is an intelligent but very abrasive young man. He does not care about what anyone thinks of him except as it relates to how it affects his money. To Chris the world is a very harsh and unforgiving place and therefore you must learn to become harsh and unforgiving. Chris does not believe in honor or morality. He believes that might is right and nothing more;

4.) FEMALE (27-33; Mixed Ethnicity) - DELILAH STEWART. On and off girlfriend of Raheem. Delilah is an insightful woman and is also very strategic. She is a very beautiful woman, who looks out primarily for herself. She has always dated gangsters and feels like she is the woman behind any man of power. She feels as though she runs the show in her own more subtle way. Her loyalty to Raheem is based primarily upon the fact that he is in the top position in their neighborhood;

5.) MALE (19-23; African-American) - KYLE. Being mentored by Raheem to be powerful and influential gangster. Kyle is seen by many as the logical successor to Raheem. He is a dangerous man in his own right but he is very much in the role of the student in his relationship with Raheem.
